We had dinner at The Barnyard this past weekend (8/10/2024). It was pretty quiet when we arrived, got seated right away. The booth we were sat at wasn’t cleaned but we picked off the food bits and checked out the menu. We were going to order the chicken parm sandwich and a pizza but the hand breaded chicken breast was out of stock. So we got a pizza and a poutine. The bartender was super nice, was on the newer side and wasn’t sure how to make a drink. He tried googling a recipe and it worked out OK. He did a nice job. Props for the effort for sure! Food came and it was good. In comparison to other local pizza places, it was good. Didn’t rise above, didn’t sink below. Poutine was good. I had high hopes as the poutine at The Guild was pretty wonderful. This being a guild group eatery, I hoped for the same yumminess. Not quite there but it was still good. Great onion rings on the side. Overall a good experience. I would come back…. Maybe once the chicken parm is back in stock. 😉

AWESOME!!! Friendly servers dressed in flannel. Very upbeat and sincere vibe. Smiling faces abound. Decor is a mix of farm, timber, and ski lodge blending traditional and industrial. Very clean with only a pleasant hint of smokiness. A Bar is present with an extensive list of craft and local beers on tap to compliment your meal, but the oven is the star of the show. The general manager took a few minutes to talk with me about the construction, care, and feeding of the oven. It is an amazing sight to see and it lives up to the hype that any foodie will look for in wood fired oven foods. We were just looking for a quick bite on our way through. Thank you Barnyard Woodcrafted Pizza for a wonderful surprise. We didn't come looking for you, but we are so glad we crossed paths. 40 minutes between walking in and walkibg out.

as people visiting from out of state - this was a horrible first experience in Vermont. definitely put a damper on our trip. we placed a carry out order and arrived on time to pick it up. the restaurant was not busy, one table had customers and in the over 30 additional minutes we waited for our food, only one other customer came in for a pick up. my partner is disabled and has to stand the entire time we waited because the staff refused to let him sit for a moment. all that to be told they made part of our order over 30 minutes ago and just let it sit while they took their time making our pizza.... just an overwhelmingly bad experience. definitely don't recommend if you're looking for that Vermont hospitality we were expecting.

IF YOU’RE INTO LONG DELAYS, MANAGEMENT ATTITUDE AND INEFFICIENCY-THIS IS YOUR PLACE

Arrived and was immediately sat which is best part of this review. Restaurant was noted to be dirty with lots of empty tables, dirty dishes all over and a smell of stale food. Waitress was nice and took order (apps cold salad and pizza). 30 min later waitress said food should be coming out but another 10 min and still no food (not even apps). 60 minutes after ordering still no food so inquired when food would be coming out and was told hot apps just went in oven and cold salad was almost made but she couldn’t say when it would be out. Ironically table which came in 20 min after us received their entire meal (pizza chicken etc) at this time as well. Manager came over and said they were short handed and he was making orders in the order they came in - pretty much throwing his waitress under the bus. Looked at another table that came in 45 min after us and they had their entire meal (pizza calzone and salad). Explained to manager that this was the second time we had tried a Barnyard and the second time we have had to wait over an hour for food. His response was absolutely shocking in that he said, “Well maybe this restaurant isn’t for you.” Having worked in the restaurant business for many years he could have said a lot of other things which I would have understood and accepted but clearly he wasn’t interested in trying to retain a customer. MR. MANAGER - You are correct.. this restaurant isn’t for me nor will it ever be again. I look for restaurants that are clean, efficient, and have well trained staff and quality food. Clearly none of that is at your Barnyard so I won’t inconvenience you by spending my money at your establishment. Instead I will just be happy to share my experience and your undue attitude with everyone I know… To the owners, you may want to look at a new manager and some more training for your staff as in reading other reviews I am not alone. If I could leave (0)...

A group of approximately 20 of us called the restaurant well ahead of our group arriving at the establishment. When we got there we were put in a back corner of the building which was fine because we were a larger group. However, the person (assuming it was the manager) made a snarky remark to our group when one of the couples decided to sit at a table the was apparently not "designated" for our group. When we asked for extra water we were ignored and never did get any more water other then the 4 pitchers provided when we were sat. We were also told that due to the size of our group we were only allowed to choose items from the appetizer, pizza, or salad options. Prior to arriving our tour group leader was told that we would be able to split the checks in to 8 different tickets. BUT, when it came time to pay the entire bill was put on one large check. Not once were any of us asked how our food was, if we needed anything, offered refills. We were basically shunned the entire time other than when we were given our food. I asked one of the servers for extra ranch and was told that the "manager" would be over in a few minutes to check on us but was never seen again. He couldn't even be bothered to bring us our bill, we had to get it ourselves. Needless to say I am proud that we have better customer service...

The first time me and my boyfriend went here was in october and we ordered a 16 in pepperoni pizza, when it came we were so impressed because for a regular cheese pizza this was incredible ! However when we got the bill we noticed we had been charged for their specialty barn-aroni pizza . Still not too sure how the waiter could mishear that but as we had finished the pizza neither of us felt comfortable complaining. The next time we went 2 days ago we decided to ACTUALLY order the specialty pizza as we did really enjoy it last time but to cut down cost we got the 12in. We laughed the whole time thinking back to the incident last time but when the bill came AGAIN we had been charged for a 16in pizza. So the 1st time they gave us the wrong pizza but right size and now it was the opposite. i tried to bring it up to my waiter and when i did she just brushed me off and told me she wrote 16in. It was so rude i couldnt believe it she just totally dismissed me and didnt care at all, my boyfriend knew i said 12in but I didnt feel like arguing so we paid and left. It's insane that both times i've gone here have been over the same pizza , from now on ill just stick to their dessert. and hope to have a...
