We decided to try this place out for the first time. Things seem fine at first, drink orders taken quickly and delivered promptly. Then, it kind of fell apart from there. We ordered some miso soup and then, we just sat there. We didn't receive the miso soup until around 15 minutes after we ordered it. No one came to our table within that 15 minutes and it sort of felt like we were being actively ignored. Upon finally getting our miso soups, we put in our dinner order. By the time we received our dinner order we watched 3 tables that had come in after us, get all their food and leave. It took over 45 minutes for us to receive our food. During that time, one person came to our table to fill one of our coke drinks with sweet tea and left so quickly that we couldn't even get it corrected even after we had called out after them to come back. We were actually about to just pay for our drinks and soup and leave because we were tired of waiting, but could not get anyone's attention for a good 5 minutes and then our food appeared. We ate it, but it was not that great. Initially we had thought they were short staffed and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since we work in a restaurant as well, but the fact that multiple tables that came in after us were served before us really rubbed us the wrong way. When paying we got not a single apology about the service. And for the quality of food, the price did not match. It was mediocre at best. As we were leaving, another table was paying and saying that they didn't receive one of their items and the staff didn't even apologize about it or anything.
Essentially, we're just not planning on ever returning...
Read moreI've tried a lot of 2nd rate sushi places, but this is one of the worst I've ever been to. The place is very dirty upon entry and most all of the tables had old plates with eaten food on them. We were the only customers at the restaurant. A young child greeted and seated us. There were 3 different random menus to choose from. We ordered hibachi and sushi. The steak hibachi was completely inedible and full of gristle. My daughter's miso soup was oddly fishy (Not from dashi, but just a very sour odd taste) I believe the paste was expired. I had 2 sushi rolls that were extremely lackluster. I almost fell out of my chair when trying to use the wasabi. First, it was a dark emerald green color and appeared dryed out. It fell apart like my kids kenetic sand. When I put it in my mouth, it had a dry crunch to it. Thankfully the sushi didn't have a fishy taste, but it was definitely not up to par. This place makes Red Bowl look like a Michelin Star restaurant. The service was acceptable, although if child services discovers that they have children working the joint, there may be some DSS involvement. Stay away from this one unless your only other choice in gas station sushi.....which will probably get better...
Read moreMy family treated my mother to Akina for her birthday which happened to be the night before Father's Day. The place is very small with only two hibachi grills. When we arrived, we were seated right away but never told about the ridiculously long wait that would occur. My family and I waited ONE HOUR & 20 MINUTES until our cook came. It took 45 minutes to just receive our soup and salad. The reason we did not leave was because it was my mom's birthday and Akina was the only hibachi place opened in the area. I asked about the service several times with the woman who seated us and she just said they were short staffed. *This should have been something said to our group before we were seated. Btw, the place was not crowded, there were only a few other tables taken beside ours. After the cook came out, our area still remained cluttered with our miso soup and salad bowls. The food was delicious once we did receive it (reason for the two stars). I would not recommend this restaurant though. You can get the same quality food with a better experience at another hibachi restaurant.
**There are also spider eggs and droppings underneath the hibachi grills. Akina, please clean underneath your tables and...
