Carrie Chinese — Restaurant in South Carolina

I was super torn about my review on this restaurant. And here is why....the food is very good I would rate 4 to 5 stars. However do not expect friendly service...would rate 1-2 star. So look if you are looking for good decently priced Chinese food this could be the place just don't expect any friendly faces. We got the orange chicken, general chicken, sweet n sour chicken with pork fried rice, pork lo me in and crab wonton. We also had two egg rolls in our order . The orange chicken was to die for!! Bits of orange peel laced on top of just cruunchy enough chicken with a sauce that wasnt too runny. Ah-may-zing HIGHLY recommend. The generals chicken I asked to have them make it spicy but not die for spicy. My generals lacked any heat at all. I almost thought maybe they swapped for a sesame chicken. Flavor was good but I wanted heat. Sweet n sour pork nice and crispy and sweet n sour sauce what you would come to expect from restaurants. London good flavor decent amount of meat veggie and noodle ratio. Crab wonton we're terrific! Packed with crabmeat and veggie. Refreshing not to get a mouthful of just cream cheese. Pork fried rice really good. Some kind of yellow rice with a little bit of onion and some pork bits in it. And the pork....mmmm.mmmm.mmmm good stuff amazing. The egg rolls were terrific as well. However these were a touch on the oily side

So overall...hard to rate....I wanted to give 4-5 stars for food. But it's hard to bring myself to do so with the service being lack luster. For me service is just as important...

My wife and I have been going to Carrie Chinese for years and love the food. We were also impressed with the measures the restaurant was taking to protect its workers from Covid. Unfortunately, there were errors in our last two orders, both of which involved only two items. Neither my wife nor I said anything the first time, but when my wife called today to politely point out a mistake made to our order, the owner yelled at her. When my wife said it was not okay for her to be yelled at, the owner continued to shout in her ear that she (the owner) was right because she took the order herself. ( I was two feet from the phone and could hear the owner yelling.) I think the owner could have handled the situation more...

I usually give places I rate a fair chance and this is no different. I tried this Chinese restaurant and had their beef lo mein and beef fried rice. The fried rice was ok, a bit tasteless but overall decent. The lo mein on the other hand was tasteless, smelled old, and had a bad texture. I give them two stars because even though their food was overall not good their service was good. The lady was patient with me as my card declined the first time. All in all the food was gross but the service kind. I wish I could give them a higher review...
