*We decided to give it another try today, February 6, 2024. Everything was absolutely perfect. The inside and outside are spruced up and spotlessly clean. That old hopeless carpet has been replaced. We were seated as soon as we got in the door. The waitress was very prompt and kept checking on us. Everyone working there was genuinely nice! The food was great. The salad bar was full of fresh food. The ribs were cooked so well that they fell off the bone! Everyone in the place had a great attitude and appeared to be enjoying their jobs. It's like we visited a different place. No doubt about it, we'll be back!
We visited on may 10, 2023 at about 6 pm. The place was a mess. We had to wait longer than we should have to be acknowledged, much less seated, but the waitress was quick to get us drinks, promptly took our orders, and kept the drinks fresh. However, we both noted how worn and dirty the carpet looked. (The exterior of the building is worn and uninviting, but we are familiar with the franchise and went there anyway.) My wife had to look in several stalls in the dirty bathroom to find toilet paper.
We both ordered the salad bar and chose an appetizer to split. It was only chips and queso cheese, mozzarella sticks and chicken. There were onions on the salad bar that had an overpowering smell. The cucumber was showing its age. There were two sliced beets on one platter. The whole salad bar looked beaten down but we found enough acceptable salad to eat and did so. The croutons tasted like they came out of a box. After an hour and 10 minutes of waiting for the simple small appetizer, we canceled our order, paid for what we got and left. Most of this time, the waitress was MIA. But she was really nice and immediately removed the food we didn't get from our bill.
Another patron had 4 plastic containers filled with food but they would not give him a bag. The lids were ill-fitted. When he put some of the plates aside to get control of the others, someone took his remaining plates and put them elsewhere.
The people sitting in front of us pointed out that they ordered ribeye but got sirloin. They said it looked and tasted like sirloin. The cook sent word that the steaks looked like sirloin but were ribeye.
Maybe things are better at lunch, but I practice intermittent fasting and our evening hour is my only meal of the day. Except for our brief time with the waitress, the entire experience was a fluster cuck.
We'll go back to the other location by I-95 but we don't ever plan returning to the American...
Read moreThe service was very decent, but this experience has left me wondering how much longer this place can stay in business. The management is questionable, never seen. Issues arise, whereas the manager should come out, but you only see the waitresses come out to handle it. They are seriously not up to date on the online menu. You order and pay on line where your options are limited, not really being able to change anything about or with your order. Then, to only get there and they have no idea what order was what if the order was paid for, even if you give them a name. They have no way of keeping up with the online orders. But the waitress I had made up for it, she was super nice and very helpful. But when you order online and you come in, they have no way of knowing it was an online order. Looks to me that the owner would want to fix this issue mainly because of the money it could eventually end up costing them, but evidently, they do not care because I have seen this here several times. Place an order online. Go in, you say it's an online order and give them one type of food that was on it and they go get it and out the door you go after only being asked and not checked was this an online order. Wow, just wow. Maybe the owners ought to go to outback steak house and see what real management looks like or, better yet, update their stuff and hire real managers. Good luck to Ruby Tuesdays . I don't know how they have made it this long, but from the way the crowd didn't look there today, I don't see them making it much longer. But honestly, dining in is a lot different. My friend and I ordered a nacho appetizer and the salad bar only to find only 2 dirty plates available on the bar and most of everything on the bar was empty. We waiting almost an hour for drinks, 30 minutes after I placed me order, I was told they did not have it so I requested a menu. After about 30 more minutes and not receiving a menu the waitress came back and asked if I had been brought one. I told her no but I would just go with the chicken option (she suggested earlier), I mean at this point I would be ordering my food while the rest of my table ate theirs. Our nachos were brought out and they were burnt (we only ate the middle layer because of how burnt they were). My friend and I split our friends meal for their birthday... his steak was requested to be cooked medium with mushroom gravy and came out well done... he dumped almost an entire bottle of A1 sauce on it. He did not receive the mushroom gravy because they were out of mushrooms but we were still charged for this... I didn't eat my food because it was very dry and just not good... It seemed like the waitress was doing all the work.. taking orders and cooking the food... basically I spent $52 and wish I was just turned away... I went home and ate spagetti-o's for dinner... after paying $52... The waitress being nice is really all the place had going for them... Which is why I didn't complain at the time of...
