It was my cousins birthday and we went for some margaritas and dinner.. when I tell you all I had the worst service ever.. it started coming through the door, it was empty. We sat down at 6:30. It should have been happy hour so we asked about the specials. The waitress said they didn't have any. Now we have been there several times and knew there was happy hour until 7. So we asked she said oh yea it starts at 7. No wait it's over at 7... then she walked away... So we looked over the menu, she came back at 7:05 to take our drink order we all ordered margaritas. I ordered a frozen raspberry, my cousin ordered regular on the rocks and her friend ordered peach on the rocks... she brought 2 regular on the rocks, my cousin and her friend got a regular margarita glass.. She she brought me no lie and orange juice size glass with frozen margarita in it. My cousins friend said she ordered peach the waitress told her they don't do flavors on the rocks.... ok.... So so she leaves again, now mind you we are the only ones there... she's gone for literally 30 minutes... in that time another person showed up. The waitress comes and asks if we are ready to order and asks our new guest what she wants to drink. She orders a margarita, the waitress says wait is this going to be separate? I'll start with you pointing at my cousins friend. So she goes through all of us and then back to our new guest and says what did you want now? We ordered she didn't pick up any of our old glasses or dishes from dip and just brings our drinks more dip and chips... She she brings out our food which at that point she tells our new guest they are out of what she ordered... my cousins friend got a spinach quesadilla which they didn't cook and loaded a tortilla up with a stack of uncooked spinach with melted cheese on top. I asked for steak quesadilla with mushrooms no onions or peppers mine had onions all over it and so much hardened cheese in the bottom it was disgusting my cousin had the same as me and hers was the only one that was ok... She leaves and now there are people coming in... another 20 minutes later she come back still not taking any of the old things off the table I ask to speak to a manager.... She immediately leaves again. We hear her telling table after table they are out of shrimp, they are out of guacamole... we go to the front counter and again ask for a manager... they send someone from the back who tells us the manager just left and won t be back until tomorrow... we sit back down and the waitress comes back over and says she told the manager to come talk to us. We say someone just told us the manager was gone for the day she sucks her teeth and said well he will be out. Another 30 minutes go by.... finally we hunt our waitress down for our checks.. everyone's check was wrong... She charged us for all kinds of stuff.. She she goes and brings back some other checks... So my check says my steak and cheese quesadilla was almost $15 I said excuse me but the menu said it was 9.99. She said I don't write the prices here so you want a menu? And flings a menu at me. Now I'm pissed... So I take the menu and it says 9.99. She said she didn't make up the prices so. So i paid anyway she comes back with my change and hands me 40$ in cash and like $5 In change... she's huffing and puffing under her breathe.. She was super rude and I was so shocked because we have been there so many times and had wonderful service until they changed management. They are going down hill with rude wait staff and just making stuff up as they go and to not have any form of management there to help assist customers.... I will never go there again. They have entirely lost my family and i's buisiness. The one in conway is so much better, the manager comes and asks how everything is and everyone is always so polite and...

First things first, we are from Ohio, and have acquired a certain taste to the style of Mexican food that Central Ohio has to offer. We have been looking for something very similar to what we grew to love and up until tonight, we have been sadly disappointed with the selection in the Myrtle Beach area.

Tonight was the one that we said "Hey, this is pretty good, almost like home". We live right around the corner and are kicking ourselves because we've read a lot of reviews that said it wasn't good. It smells amazing every time we've been to the grocery store, or stopped into pick up a pizza which is next door.

The chips were warm and think like we've experienced in most every Mexican restaurant, I like the thin and crispy cantina chips the best, but these were good. My wife and son enjoyed the salsa, and they said it hit the spot they have been trying to fill for awhile.

The menu is a little limited, but that's not bad. It's obvious there are different preferences from Ohio as I have been looking for the big quesadilla's like the "Qeusadilla Mexicana" from my favorite place in Ohio, but it's more burrito's and chimichanga's around here.

My wife and son ordered appetizer quesadilla's for their meal, and I had the chicken chimichanga, which came with rice or beans. When the food came, I wish I had gotten the appetizer steak quesadilla, because we're used to getting huge 10" tortilla sized quesadilla's and around the Grand Strand area, quesadillas seem to be taco sized, but no here. These were some big quesadillas. My wife's shrimp quesadilla ($7) was huge, and more than enough for a meal. Our son had a cheese quesadilla ($5) and it filled him up.

My chimichanga ($11.75) was like two taquitos, rather than a single burrito sized chimi, but it was really good. There was a layer of melted cheese that was literally bubbling on my plate, which mixed in with my rice, and it was just plain good.

Overall, we'll be back. It's the best Mexican food we've had since we've moved. The price was about average for everything around. I mean we're in Myrtle Beach, it's going to cost a little more.

As also way, I rate it on would I drive any distance to get back here? I would pass up every other Mexican restaurant in Myrtle Beach to get here, but I wouldn't drive even 50 miles for it. If I didn't live here, it would defiantly be on my list as a "Must eat here"...

The 2 star is only because taco Tuesday has some great deals on tacos and drinks. You have to get there early or you may have to wait for an hour plus. For whatever reason, they don't take your name, just tell you it will be 20 min. I've seen a party with the same number of people as mine come in after us and get seated before us. We learned that when the waiter comes to take your drink order, be ready to give your food order or it could be 30 min before they come back to you. When the food comes out, ask for your checks right away or it could be another 30 min before they come back.

My friends and I have gone on Tuesdays probably about 10 times, I will never go again because of my last experience there. A friend wanted to celebrate their birthday here on Tuesday. When we called to make a reservation, they said they didn't take them on Tuesdays..., Ok, fair enough we understand it is a busy night for the restaurant. We get there early to find that they wouldn't let us sit at the 12 person table when we had 12 people coming. The staff told us it was reserved. Apparently they only take reservations for priority customers. They told us they would make sure to save a 4 person booth for the rest of our party. When everyone eventually arrived, a booth wasn't saved for us, they had other people waiting to be seated, and that 12 person table was still empty. The reminder of our group had to sit at the 4 seater bar they have. The server making drinks refused to take our order and was very annoyed we were sitting there. We had to ask the waiter serving our friends to take our order. At some point one of us needed a napkin and didn't want to bother the server behind the bar, so we reached for them ourselves. She actually yelled at us for reaching for a stack of napkins right in front of us.

If you can't fit your party in a 4 person booth, expect to wait for a long time. I recommend you spend a little more for your meal and go...

Okay, so I gave El Cerro Grande a whirl because of all the talk about it, but honestly, I wasn't all that impressed. The menu was your typical Tex-Mex spread, which was alright, but nothing to write home about. Especially when you consider the premium prices they're asking for it. For those bucks, I was expecting something really spectacular, you know? And let's talk about those chips. You'd think they would be a slam dunk - simple, crunchy, a tasty start to the meal. But they were just...blah. Kind of a letdown when you're all set to tuck into some good Tex-Mex. Then there's the whopping local 10.25% sales tax to think about. After adding that, the bill starts to feel like you've been out for a fancy dinner, not a casual Tex-Mex meal. So, if you're trying to keep your spending in check, you might want to reconsider this place. Maybe I'm being a little harsh because I'm used to the killer, budget-friendly Tex-Mex scene in Houston. In comparison, El Cerro Grande doesn't quite hit the mark. But here's a pro tip: just down the road, there's El Patio Mexican Restaurant. That's a place that knows how to do both food and value. Great tasting meals that don't drain your wallet. So if you're in the mood for some good Tex-Mex without the hefty price tag, definitely give El Patio a look-see. All in all, El Cerro Grande dishes up passable Tex-Mex, but it's nothing to get too excited about - particularly given the cost. And when you've got a place like El Patio nearby, and if you're used to the vibrant, affordable Tex-Mex scene in a city like Houston, it's kind of hard to get too excited about El Cerro Grande. Just something to think about.

:( Chose this place because on maps this is where the locals eat. This place is not good at all. I wonder if Spanish people actually cook this food. The beef as you can see in the pic in the la favorita is like bbq beef. It was not good. Who puts bbq beef in a quesadilla? My daughter got 1 enchilada (not pictured) and she didn't even eat the ground beef it was almost black and tasted sour. The chicken in the soft taco in the pic was also not good it had a wang to it( sorry only word I could think to describe it). Hubby said the fajitas were alright hard to mess them up it's just cooked veggies and meat. They used beef strips for the fajitas that's the only reason we gave it 2 stars. This place is not good. For the people that think this is real mexican food please come to GREENVILLE SC and eat at this little hole in the wall place called EL SURENO. You will never call anything else mexican food again. Now that place is delicious. :)
