First of all, I messaged the corporate office a week ago, asking for a call back. I didn’t want to blast in a review. The food was not bad, but service was horrendous. The waitress was not the best, maybe new and not well trained? Multiple issues, but the worst... my uncle ordered 1/2 doz oysters on the half shell. The pic shows raw & he wasn’t asked how he wanted them prepared. He asked that they be brought out before the meal. In the meantime, he dropped his fork. The waitress arrived with our salads & asked did we need anything? I mentioned he needed another fork and asked about the oysters. She said they were “working on them”. Our meals came out before we even touched our salads. Still no oysters. Also, no fork. I finally suggested my uncle grab from the next table as food was getting cold. Oysters finally arrived. He & my aunt each ate one. I heard him comment, “not much flavor”. I offered my lemon wedge. He tasted the next oyster and commented these were steamed, not raw as expected. When the waitress came back, he told her. She seemed reluctant to fix the issue, but took the oysters. Halfway through the meal another lady brought a tiny plate w/ 3 oysters. When my uncle questioned, she said, “Well, you changed your mind”, which he did not. He said no, we thought they came raw. Finally, she took them back after much discussion and later brought another 1/2 dozen back to him. *After she brought the plate of 3, the waitress came back asking how everything was. I mentioned what happened. She shrugged her shoulders and mentioned that this woman was the manager. No apologies or offer to follow up. We were charged ($9, I believe) for the oysters at the end of the meal. There were five in our party with my aunt and uncle visiting from out of state. We spent approx $135 that evening. I can’t believe they would ruin the dining experience over three oysters. So much for Southern Hospitality & Customer Service. I won’t suggest this restaurant again to family or friends. It’s one of the few sit down restaurants in town, so it is a shame. It’s even sadder that nobody from their corporate office cared enough to follow up. We left a minimal tip, but the cost of those 3 oysters would have been more than covered had the situation had they handled the situation better....
Read moreMy Daughter and I visit the restaurant 2wks ago. The service was bad and the staff wasn't any better! The drinks tasted like sewer water. They took us all the way in the back part of the restaurant even though the main dining area was empty! The Hostess didn't like the fact that we wanted to move. Are waitress was also the Bartender so she didn't really have time to give us attention. Our table was never bussed! Everything remain there. I had to flag down another waitress and tell here to let our waitress know we were ready to leave. I also detected that there's some Discrimination as well!! When we got our ticket my Daughter told the waitress she was military and instead of our receipt stating Military discount it said. Senior Discount, which neither one of us were. One I got to the Hostess stand 3employees and the Manager were standing there. Had waited 10 mins. And was never acknowledge by any of them.!! The only thing that they were talking about was what they were going to eat on their lunch break. After finally being ask did I need help. I replied yes I needed to speak with Management.(Amanda) To this request their was No Remorse! My daughter and I left in such surprise we bthrm made it know that we would make it our business Never to take our business to Gilligan's on the Dock in Moncks Corner Again!! Today it's been 2 weeks. Since I've heard from the District Manager at the Corparate Office. This incident took place on March 19,2017 I called coporate the very next day. The District Manager (Tasha Eddy) told me she would review the tape at the store and call me the following day and to this day 3/31/17 , I'm still waiting to hear from her!! I've left messages on her voicemail and he actually call and she was there and sent me to voicemail message!! To the District Manager (Ms. Tasha Eddy) as a guest that loves Gilligan's and have recommended it to my friends as well as co-workers, I find it very ill- mannered and unprofessional that a District Manager would show such bad mannerisms and ignore such a disturbing complaint from a guest about an establishment that many people enjoy going to.!! That let's me know that your okay with this type of service in one of your establishment!!! Not...
Read moreLast night's experience was truly interesting to say the least. I will start with the good news: The food was great. The service however was somewhat of a complex orchestra of 'how can we make this worse?' Upon arrival, the manager told us it would be 30 minutes. No problem. We said we would grab a drink at the bar. He said we couldn't because they were short-staffed. We stared perplexingly at the people seated at the bar drinking. We did end up breaking his strange policy and ordered a few drinks. We even witnessed another staff member telling folks to go to the bar. Odd to say the least. While waiting on a table, we overheard him telling everyone just how short-staffed he was and apologizing. I did a count and the staff outnumbered the patrons 2:1. We watched with total confusion as 3 people bused the same table. Servers were literally running into each other in front of us. After being seated, the average drink turn time was over ten minutes. We ordered bottled beer and what I assume was wine from a box. Every time we had to ask again for our drinks, the same excuse came back about the short staffing. When the bill came, it was so incorrect that two managers and our server had to work for 15 minutes to fix it. It was over a hundred dollars off. Meanwhile the staff kept pouring out of the kitchen like angry bees from a hive. I had never seen anything like it. Our server told us that two tables had already walked out on her and she was absolutely devastated. Out of respect for her, I won't even go into all the details about just how bad her night was. I give two stars because the food was good and the server was genuinely trying to help. This restaurant needs an effective management team to support the...
