The ice cream and milkshakes are good, but they aren’t worth the extensive waits after you order and the abysmal customer service from the manager, who I assume is the owner.

I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after two miserable experiences ordering milkshakes, I cannot recommend anyone go here.

The first time I went, I ordered a milkshake in the middle of the day when they were not busy. Fifteen minutes after I had ordered, the rest of my party had finished their ice cream and I had not yet received my milkshake. I noticed no one was working on making any, so I asked how much longer it would be. The manager then informed me that someone else took my milkshake. She then, in front of all ten customers in the building, accused a teenage customer of taking my milkshake. That teenage customer produced a receipt, showing she had purchased the same milkshake as me. So the manager had wrongly accused someone of stealing, when Lick simply couldn’t keep track of what milkshakes they should have been making. Twenty minutes after ordering, I finally got my milkshake. The extensive wait and the fact they simply forgot to make it, was not acknowledged.

The second (and last time), I went with young kids and another adult. It was somewhat busy, most tables were full, but the line was never out the door. The kids ordered ice cream, and I ordered a milkshake. Thirty minutes after the milkshake was paid for and it hadn’t been received, we asked for our money back (for the undelivered milkshake not the ice cream that the kids had eaten). We were told they would rush the milkshake and it would be out in a few minutes. Five minutes later, I once again asked for my money back. I was told by the manager, that as she previously explained they were rushing the milkshake and it was almost ready. I stated that it had been too long and I no longer had time to eat the milkshake, but the manager still refused to refund my money. At that point, 35 minutes after paying and likely 40 minutes from when I ordered, I left without my milkshake or a refund.

There are plenty of places in Columbia that have good ice cream and make extravagant milkshakes. There is no reason to go to this one, until they figure out how to make milkshakes in a timely fashion and how to treat their...

You might as well go to Marble slab if you think you’re going to get any sort of decent service here. My mother my daughter and myself decided at 11:15 we was going to get some ice cream. When we pull up an older lady was sitting outside on her phone holding conversation, as we’re getting out the car she rushes inside and we thought we were going to get Quick amazing customer service. Boy o boy was we wrong. When the young lady on the front counter greeted us she started to take our order. she took my mothers order first. And then she proceeded to take my daughters order. And that took 10 minutes. By the time I was about to order for myself the older lady who I presume is the owner came to the counter and started fussing at the young lady saying she would take the order and they need to go to the back and make cones. As she started to take my order she requested that I hold on so she can go to the back and continue to fuss at the ladies in the back. She came out one more time started taking my order and then ran to the back again for another 15 minutes. By this time I decided I no longer want an ice cream. I was just going to get my mom and daughters order and leave. When the older lady came back she had a cone in her hand and asked my mom what her order was. By this time nobody wanted ice cream. I just feel that if there were things that needed to be done and you open at 11 o’clock then instead of being outside on the phone when you’re open you should be inside instructing your employees on what they need to be doing and how to prepare for your opening.I can tell by the way she talks to her employees that she just needs the own the establishment and maybe not manage it, otherwise I see this business failing very soon. Because her sense of organization, priority, respect, and customer service is way off. Maybe she needs to look and just being a silent owner. Because baybay the way she is rude unprofessional in the way she carries herself and the looks she give you…. I feel...

I had been here one time before, and it was great! I got a waffle cone on my first visit that had a little marshmallow fluff and chocolate cookie crumbs stuck on the marshmallow around the rim. The scoops of ice cream were a nice large size and I wasn't mad at the price. The customer service was great the first time as well. Based on that good experience, I decided to go again. Today, I stopped in to grab something to-go and opted for the waffle bowl this time since that travels better than a cone. I pointed to the same cone I did before and asked if I could get it in a bowl. I mentioned I have a nut allergy and the lady couldn't have cared less. Last time, the young lady who made my order eased my mind by explaining she'd use a clean scoop and she took measures to ensure no cross contamination. That didn't happen today. The lady seemed impatient and annoyed. Maybe she was having a bad day. It happens. I almost said something about the lack of allergen protocols, but I didn't feel like arguing and I got the vibe she would have for sure argued. I ended up tossing my order when I got home. I have no idea if some Butter Pecan was scooped before what I ordered. I'd like to think she used a clean scoop, but I have no idea and don't care to go in to anaphylactic shock to find out. I ordered two scoops and when I say they were tiny, I thought maybe I had been served a child's portion. Until I paid over $8. The waffle bowl was in a cup that was twice as deep as the waffle bowl, so I didn't realize how small it was until I got home. It also had some sort of chocolate frosting instead of marshmallow around the rim. Just so disappointed all the way around. With other options around, including the new ice cream spot over on Spears Creek, I don't think I'll visit Lick again. But definitely try it out for yourself. Hopefully you'll have the good experience I did...

During my travels from Georgia to North Carolina, I decided to stop by LICK for a milkshake. I arrived around 1:30 PM on a Sunday, shortly after they had opened at 1:00 PM. Despite the early hour, there was already a family of four ahead of me, and a few more families entered after I arrived. The staff member on duty, who was working alone, was doing her best to manage the influx of customers. However, it quickly became apparent that one person alone was not sufficient to handle the demand, especially on a weekend. While this might work on slower weekdays, weekends clearly require more staff. I ordered a banana pudding shake, but was informed that they were out of the banana pudding ice cream. The staff member kindly recommended a caramel-based ice cream instead, which I agreed to try. After preparing most of the shake, she realized they were also out of bananas. This left me with a caramel shake featuring Nilla Wafers, which wasn’t quite what I had hoped for. Upon drinking it, I noticed 15-20 chocolate pieces at the bottom—a surprising addition that didn’t quite fit the flavor profile. While I could have changed my order at the point when I learned they were out of bananas, I chose not to, recognizing the pressure the employee was already under. That said, the shake itself was excellent, and the customer service was commendable, given the circumstances. However, having only one employee on staff and offering a ($15) shake without key ingredients are areas that need improvement from the management. I would definitely consider returning on my next trip to North Carolina, hoping for a more complete experience.

Grand opening!! We spent a little over an hour there. About 15-20min in line and the rest waiting for our order. We knew there would be a wait due to them just opening, so that was ok. The customer service is good, just make sure you tell them your exact order. My cousin wanted the strawberry Cheesecake (shake) and they began fixing just regular Cheesecake (they sell that too)...so that was our mistake. I'm pretty sure the wait won't be as long once they're fully staffed. Only downside to this visit is that some ppl took advantage of them being so busy that they were able to order milkshakes and not pay...by this I mean they were able to order their shake (they currently take the longest to make), step aside and wait and then leave without paying once they received their order. Only reason behind this is that there wasn't someone at the register at all times. Therefore, it's was really easy for the few employees to loose focus of those who paid and didn't pay because they were that busy, and everyone waiting for their order, stepped aside to the area on the side of the register (those who paid and didn't pay). And upon receiving orders, the employees didn't ask if they paid or not. And a good way to prove they did would be to ask for proof of receipt. So they DEFINENTLY need someone at the register at all times.
