I went here today for an anniversary dinner and it was horrible. They sat us by the kitchen and it smelled awful like rubber tires were being burnt. First when I ordered the waitress could not understand me I even pointed at each menu item as I was ordering them and she still didn’t bring me what I ordered. I asked for Chile rellenos and she brought her manager to tell me it was not as described in the menu and to get a poblano pepper filled with cheese and fried ( like every Mexican restaurant ever had made this dish and served it) I needed to pay extra I said okay no problem. Then she never brought it out after 45 minutes of waiting. I ordered fajitas Texanos with steak chicken and shrimp and they brought it out completely black , burnt, and inedible. Absolutely nothing had any seasoning and when I ordered guacamole they brought out smashed avocados zero seasoning no cilantro onion and tomatoes just avocado for 6.00 and a small side of it too for that price. I don’t even want to explain how disgusting their salsa is if you enjoyed puréed tomatoes from a can with sugar added this is the restaurant for you no cilantro no garlic not even garlic powder no jalapeño no peppers no onion just puréed tomatoes disgusting. Then when I asked for cilantro and onions they started talking in Spanish making fun of me for asking for the Chile relleno and for sitting there cutting up the cilantro and onions to put in my guacamole. In all my 31 years of life I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where I made my own guacamole and paid for it. I will never come back and I urge you to stay away I could make better Mexican food. I’ve been cooking since I was 7 and don’t know anybody who likes food this bland. My husband I travel a lot and I was born and raised in Florida and this is by far the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had.

Interior decor was interesting, but that is all it was. Service was awful, my dad had to find our waitress and tell her that I needed a refill. Food was very basic... chicken in my enchilada could have been softer.... needed more of a crock pot softness to it...as it was a bit tough. Beans had a red color hue to them, was odd, too scared to really eat them. After going to Mr. Salsa and having an much better experience and way better food, I will not be returning here.

This is the first time I went to Monterrey, the place is very nice, so many cool arts and pictures and designs. The atmosphere was calm and the music was not loud. The costume service was great. Chrystal was amazing. She took note of my Islamic diet and gave me suggestions for next time when I go there. I had the dinner special, which was mixed fajitas with soft drink. Delicious indeed, must go again for other dishes.

My husband and I usually have weekly date nights here. Never again after last night's experience.. I did a call in order .. I ordered 2 chicken n cheese quesadillas and 3 BEEF soft tacos no lettuce.. The guy taking the order said my order back to me and it was correct .. I picked it up ( I should've checked it but we've never had a issue ever) got home and we began to eat. It was 2 chicken n cheese quesadilla and 3 chicken soft tacos.. I called right back, and the lady who answered was told what happened. I said I ordered 3 BEEF soft tacos no lettuce and was given 3 chicken soft tacos .. She said bring them back and they would fix them .. I arrived at the restaurant and handed over the box of chicken tacos but the gentleman said just keep them and I was given a new box of food with chips n salsa .. I take it out to my car and check it... Guess what was in the new box. Yep 3 more chicken soft tacos .. I take it straight back in there and said these are chicken again..The man said no way .. He went and got a curly haired girl maybe the manager .. She came over and said I talked to you on the phone and you said we gave you beef and you wanted chicken. I was like no I wanted beef and you gave me chicken. I said why would I bring chicken tacos up here just to receive more chicken tacos. She threw her hands up all mad like I did something wrong. She then came back and said I need the other box back. I was like I already tried giving it back thean said to keep it.. I went back to my car to get the other chicken tacos. I gave it back to them and was given a bag with 3 beef soft tacos finally but the kept their chips n salsa this time. At this point I really wanted my money back but was told I couldn't have a full or partial refund because the quesadilla were at home.. Poor service, customers treated badly, we will not go back... If I knew who owned this location I would totally give them a call. I have never been treated...

It completely blows my mind when I read all these positive reviews. Anyone who says that this is the "best Mexican food they've ever had" must not have eaten literally anywhere else, ever. I live very close by and over the past 30 years, I have tried this place multiple times, giving them multiple chances to change things and improve. I remember back in the 90s, their food was pretty good. But from the early 2000's on, the food, service, and atmosphere has reached an all-time low. You really can't get any worse than it is now, and that's really saying something. I mean, they actually have a rating of "B" from the health department. For those of you who don't know, if a restaurant has a "B" rating, you might as well be eating out of a garbage can. The last time I ate here, we were the only ones in the entire restaurant, and it still took almost an hour to get our food. When we needed refills, no one ever came, so we just got up and got them ourselves. Yes, that's right, we got our own refills, and the worst part? The waiter watched us do it and laughed. Real professional, my guy. We got up to pay and no one came. My husband actually went in the kitchen to find someone, and guess what? There was no one in the kitchen, either! Right when we were ready to just walk out and call it good, the host finally came to check us out. Not one word was said during this transaction. Not, "how was your food?" or, "thanks for coming," or, "would you like to leave a tip?" Nothing. I would have even settled for a "sorry, we tried." But they didn't try. They really didn't even attempt. When I go out to eat, I guess I just assume that the food will be at least sort of edible and that the service will at least be tolerable of my existence. That was not the case at Monterrey's. But, hey, if you happen to like B rated establishments, less than subpar food, servers who ignore you, and getting your own drinks, THIS IS THE...
