Racks Restaurant & Sports Bar — Restaurant in South Carolina

So I've been to this place 3 times and had wildly different experiences each time. A couple things were consistent so let's start there...

This place has very little personal identity imo. It's not a sportsbar. It's not a dive bar(perhaps closest to this). It's definitely not a pool hall(but wants to be). No real personality in the layout, decorations or design of it. Just minimal effort through and through in this regard.

I really liked the bartenders in my limited interactions with them. Best thing about the place imo. Great personalities. Just solid folks.

Prices: I feel everything was reasonably priced from a game of pool all the way to the food and beverage.

Food quality: Likely better than you'd expect given the nature of the place(dive bar meets sports bar meets wanna be pool hall). It would seem the kitchen is trying hard to put out quality food and delivering on that from my experience.

A word about Yolanda(she directs pool tournaments there sometimes and perhaps does other things but I can't speak to those). She is a true beacon of light for this place. This lady is really trying hard to do her part. She's an absolute sweetheart just doing it for the love of the game and I commend her efforts.

Now for the bad part which unfortunately outweighs all the good from above. The Owner. Wow this lady is absolutely off her rocker. I had never met her before and she screamed at me like nobody has in my entire life before I even knew what I had done wrong she was screaming at me. I kept my cool as best as I could but if you want respect from people you should start by showing them some. How about instead of coming out guns blazing and losing a gasket over something that frankly isn't that big of a deal, simply point out what you'd like for me(or whoever) to change in a normal voice. Maybe even start with an introduction. (Sir, I'm the owner insert name here you and I have never met but I'd like it if you'd do blank or not do blank. We have this house rule that you don't know about, here it is. JUST SOMETHING LIKE THAT, Try talking to people like a human instead of screaming at them right off the jump).

I'm sure I'll never get an apology from the owner as this person doesn't see herself as having done anything wrong. And that's all fine and dandy but if we can't reflect on interactions with others and find fault from time to time, how can we grow? Anyway, best of luck to all the staff there and especially to Yolanda keep doing your thing...

My first time at Racks last night, and I had a pretty good time! My friends have been frequenting this place for YEARS and they still love it. Its definitely a hole in the wall regulars bar. The bartenders call you by name, treat you like you've been coming around for years, and were helpful throughout our evening. We hung out from about 8pm until closing time and we never felt anything less than accepted by the bar and the regulars.

Their womens bathroom is probably one of the best bar bathrooms I've ever seen. It was very clean, smelled nice, they had like 8 different soaps (I'm not even kidding) that were tons of different scents and also an unscented option. They also had a small shelf that was stocked with feminine products, which honestly I think is great. I feel like most ladies have been out with friends only to find out Aunt Flo was making an earlier appearance than expected. You dont have to pay for the products or ask someone go get them for you, they're just out

Food was pretty good. Not great, but not bad either. Some dishes were a lot better than others. Like, we loved the southwest egg rolls, fried okra, basket of garlic bread, and the hot dogs were great, but the grilled pizza is just a quesadilla tortilla with pizza toppings...I wasnt thrilled with that because I assumed I would get an actual kind of pizza...but oh well. My other friend didnt love their wings because they're breaded, no fried. But oh well, that was really all that we didnt love.

I had been here previously twice about 8 mths ago and had a wonderful time. That all changed tonight. I had spoken highly.of this place until tonight. I came here with my boyfriend who had not been here until I suggested and was excited to come. Worst experience ever tonight and I will NOT be returning. The 2 Caucasian older women are the most rudest 2 servers I have ever encountered. They do not know how to talk to people with manners nor etiquette. We placed a food order and 1 of the ladies was so matter of fact and not polite while taking our order then they proceeded to tell us that the 3rd room of pool tables could not be open until the 2nd room was full and if she opened it up up us that would mean bending policy and she would need to open up the room for all in which we understood. Then once the 2nd room got full we saw a group of 3 go to the 3rd room in which to us meant the 3rd room was open. So my.boyfriend went to tell the waitress we had moved to the 3rd room since it was open & before he could talk to the waitress the rude lady came up and asked my boyfriend "What do you need? Very rude & then another lady came to the back and told us that "Well, this room was only open to them and not all but since everybody wanna come back here now, it's open."
