This was my first time eating here and I've been here for over a year. I can certainly say I was NOT disappointed. We (party of 5) dined here on Valentine's Day, roughly about 7:30 pm and we were expecting it to be packed. The greeters were very kind and were the right kind of people to be the face of the company as soon as you walk through the doors. Smiling and welcoming. The first surprise was they seated us right away. No one came to the table right away asking what kinds of drinks we would like to have or bring us chips and salsa. We waited about 10 minutes. Which was no issue. As soon as the waiter showed up he was very quick on getting our drink order and returning. He had someone else bring chips and salsa which I thought was wonderful to see employees working together to serve the customers. Also this was the second part that surprised me, where it took no time at all to get the food out. I didn't time it but I do know my family and I were looking at each other speechless on how quickly it came out. The food was fresh and delicious! I had a burrito that had steak and onions on the inside and queso on top with rice on the side. Perfection! Everything was perfect. Nothing was cold, and nothing had to be returned. Everything was correct. The food environment was very nice. The music was appropriate, the decorations, and for how busy they were the floors and the tables/ seating were kept tidy. They didn't rush us and the waiter kept coming back to check up on us even though we paid. I definitely recommend eating here! Also, I will be returning with more family...
Read moreNOT MEXICAN. This is extremely Americanized. Chile rellenos are neither chile, nor relleno. NOT SPICY. Do not come to the "Confederate States of 'Murica" with any expectations of finding good Chihuahuan food, chile verde anywhere, or anything even remotely resembling sopapilla/frybread. If you ask for hatch chile or chile pueblo they will look at you with empty stares. If you ask for pozole your server will tell you "Sí... en mi casa los domingos"... If you want nopalitos or tuna (the fruit, not the fish), you might as well speak Greek. And may the gods help you if you need a chilaquiles fix or chicharones or costillas... They serve black beans and the enchiladas don't resemble anything "en chilada". Now, that having been said... The food is tasty and the people are friendly. Just go in with reasonable expectations.
Mis amigos mexicanos, escuchan Uds a mi...
Read moreBeen driving by San Jose' on my way to get my haircut for ages, & have been meaning to stop in & check it out, today - I had the opportunity to do so, & share a holiday lunch with my neighbors who have dined there a number of times, and thought I would like it, they were correct! We enjoyed a nice lunch on Tuesday afternoon, around 12:30pm, the restaurant wasn't terribly crowded, but there were a number of folks enjoying their lunch at that time. We were seated promptly, served some chips & salsa while we looked over the menu, & one we placed our order, were served in a reasonable time frame, the food was delicious - I enjoyed the "Mexican Steak", while one of my neighbors enjoyed a burrito & the other a chicken dish.
The staff were friendly, & attentive, the food was prepared well, and all in all, I would say one receives a good value for their money.
I enjoyed dining at San Jose' this afternoon, and look forward to returning in the not so distant future, and would recommend this establishment if you are a fan of mexican food. The price is right, the portions just right, & the venue was...
