As a retired U.S. Navy Veteran myself, I enjoy seeing the successful transition of my brother and sisters into civilian life and, better yet, becoming successful entrepreneurs. Supporting this business is an honor, and with Veteranâs Day right around the corner, I felt this was perfect timing.
Ambiance and Service
Overall, The Vetropolitan looks very well maintained. The tables and booths were clean; the bar looked freshly built, and the walls gleamed white, a clean and comfortable environment at first glance.
Food Quality:
The Vetropolitan Menu features a mix of southern, low-country favorites like chicken and waffles, Shrimp and Grits, steak, seafood pasta, salmon, and more. See the complete food menu from the Door Dash app here.
When I asked what keeps customers returning, the wait staff and manager agreed that the lamb chops, lobster tail, and waffles were customer favorites. So, I had to try them for myself. Lobster and Waffles: Two deep-fried 6oz lobster tails served on a dinner plate size waffle with cut strawberries and blueberries to garnish.
Now I have had chicken and waffles before, but Lobster and Waffles? This dish was a first for me, and I was pleasantly surprised.
Hot and juicy, cooked just right so as not to make them rubbery in texture. Absolutely enjoyable; the only thing that could be improved is the waffle itself.
A homemade waffle would make this meal a homerun as opposed to the Eggo-like waffle that was presented. Iâm not sure if it was the juice from the lobster -tail, but it was soggy and not enjoyable. Add a crisp, hot-off-the-iron waffle to this combination; I think there would be a line out the door just for the Lobster and Waffle meal.
Lamb Chops: Four Teriyaki Glazed Chops
Living overseas, Lamb Chops have become one of my favorites, so I have a very high bar when grading them. When cooked right, I enjoy lamb chops over a steak any day of the week.
If Iâm 100, I have to say the chops were a bit of a disappointment. However, I did enjoy how tender the meat was and how easily the lamb separated from the bone. The teriyaki glaze is what did it for me.
While good on some things in moderation, teriyaki glaze has a very high sodium base. The combination of the glaze and the other seasonings added to these chops created a saltiness that was overbearing and made for an unenjoyable experience. Overall Assessment and Pricing:
I would like to revisit The Vetropolitan to get the entire essence of the place during its peak hours.
Based on their social media pages, Facebook and Instagram, The Vetropolitan hosts several weekly social events. One of their biggest highlights is Friday Night karaoke.
On Sundays from 12 PM-6 PM, the brunch crowd has this place packed as one of the hottest local DJs entertains the crowd with the latest hits on the ones and twos and keeps the party going from the night before.
Suppose you are looking for a place to let your hair down. Unwind after a long week in the office, enjoy some Friday night karaoke, some decent food, and a few drinks. Then, the Vetropolitan is the place for you.
Pricing is affordable; the lobster tail and the lamb chops were the two more expensive food items on the menu, priced between $25-$30.00. Everything else was $10-$15.
Donât just take my word for it; check The Vetropolitan for yourself; hopefully, this restaurant review will help YOU decide if YOU...
Read moreAs an out of towner I have been here twice once for dinner on a Friday evening (party of 3) and most recently on a Sunday for brunch (party of 4).
The space is very spacious with ample parking and a pretty good play list from whomever is on the 1's & 2's. Both times food was good, service was slow but our waiters were on point.
For Dinner... (Friday 6/21/24 @ 7:30... TY photo meta data).
It was a girls night, it was a little busy but we were seated quickly for a Friday. I don't remember our waiters name but it was a gentleman who is still there because I saw him on my most recent visit.
We ordered apps of seafood crab dip and buffalo chicken egg-rolls. I sampled both and they were tasty. For entrées there was pasta Alfredo with salmon and broccoli and I order salmon with collards and garlic mash. My sister order a shrimp rice dish with sauce (idr the name). Nonetheless we all enjoyed our food. It took sometime to arrive but it was good and the temps were nice and hot.
Now they ran out of several items at the bar, one being Jack Daniels, but our waiter did his best to accommodate.
The bathrooms were not in good shape and there were serval staff members not pulling their weight for a smooth service.
For Brunch... (Sunday, 7/6/25 @ 12:30)
The hostess was rude, inattentive and seated people she knew whom came after the people waiting. While she insisted the entire party needed to be standing inside before being seated. She seated the others she knew staggered in parties of two as they came in.
Once seated our server Jordan S. was great and very apologetic for the staff members once again not being productive to provide better service. For example on this visit I order a carafe of mimosa. She had to request it from the bar three different times. As we were seated in a booth across from the bar we watched as everyone was socializing with each other and prioritizing convos with their peeps. Our food came before the carafe of mimosa.
Entrées for brunch: were honey chicken and waffles, 2 shrimps n grits one with a side of eggs, and fish n grits with a side of French toast . Everything was well seasoned, I was amazed at how much I enjoyed the grits. When I order grits, usually they require some doctoring up table side. The French toast was also surprisingly extra tasty. Everyone was completely satisfied with our choices and a couple of us were full so we took the rest to-go.
Overall the food is good, the service can be tolerable if you get the right server and the music & atmosphere can be a vibe. However on both visits there were things and staff members that hindered the experience.
Just A Note:
There is an automatic 15% service fee added to the bill, it is a tip. However, I highly recommend if you get a really good server who provides great service despite the circumstance they are up against please tip them extra in...
Read moreThis was my 1st time here since it changed ownership. My friend and I walked into the door and the manger, April and 3 other ladies were there. We had to ask if someone could help us because they didnât acknowledge us walking in. We asked if we could be seated somewhere else and April said, shes trying to figure out the floor plan. So we just sat at a table until someone came to move us.
They told us we could only sit for 2 hours, because someone else was coming to sit where we were.
We ordered the seafood nachos. We asked if it was real crab meat, the waitress said yes after asking, it came back and it was imitation crab meet. We kept it anyway and it was okay. Most of the chips were burnt. We just picked around it.
I ordered shrimp and grits and the grits Weâre good however the peppers in the shrimp are burnt. I told the waitress she sent it back. I asked for a manager, however she never came to the table. They We cooked the meal and brought me another order and the peppers and shrimp were still burnt so I asked for the manager again and she never came to the table.
Iâve never been to a restaurant where there was a problem with my meal in the manager didnât come to the table to apologize or to figure out what was wrong or how they could help make it better. She walked right past the table and never acknowledge that there was a problem she just got the plate from the waitress and took it to the back.
Our waitress Hope was amazing! She did the job that the manager shouldâve done she asked if she could give me anything else she apologized. I asked her did the cook clean off the grill because you could tell that the burnt pieces were from just old food being cooked on the grill and the girl not being cleaned off because it was charcoal type burnt pieces. She said that he did clean out the grill. I didnât order anything else. My friend ordered salmon, it was dry but she ate it anyway.
If I come back again itâll probably just be for drinks but the food is a mediocre the services mediocre if it wasnât for our waitress the entire experience wouldâve been a fail.
I told The waitress that the manager April needed to be retrained because the job that she did with the job that the manager should have done. She stated sheâs never seen him manage to do that since heâs moved here which is really bad business.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else if they are...
