Waffle House — Restaurant in South Carolina

1/15/2021 Went to the waffle house to grab a bite to eat with my family. We walked in and waited 15 minutes for someone to clean a booth. The person her nametag read "Mars" was asked to clean the tables, as she is eating a piece of bacon at the register. Mars tells the head waitress "I am off the clock" and took another 10 minutes to clear a table. FYI they don't sanitize the table. The rag she used to wipe it down was disgusting. After we sat down, the head waitress asked Mars to give us and another couple utensils. Mars again said I am off the clock and brought utensils. We never received a menu. Our server Nikki, was either new or needed to find another line of work. We placed our order and she eventually brought our drinks. I asked for a straw, 11 minutes later I asked again ... I finally got one. Our food came out 1 piece at a time. My sons got their waffles, before we got our food. They were done before my husband and I got our food. Our waitress was prompt when we seated ourselves and we ordered a coffee and Coke. She brought 2 coffees and walked away not hearing me say excuse me to correct the situation. After her taking a few orders of people that sat after us (we're still waiting for her to come back), many workers kept looking at us as we sat looking for her to come back. After 15-20 minutes she finally looked my way and walked over, which I told her he needed a Coke not a coffee. She brought 2 Cokes back so I told her again we only ordered 1 of each. She took it back and I advised we're ready to order as well. I asked if I could get a side of gravy with breakfast and she said yes so I ordered breakfast instead of lunch. Once we got our orders she said sorry we're out of gravy. Needless to say, I only ate the hash browns. Got the check and we were charged for 4 drinks instead of only 2 then once questioned she stated she gave us a discount for the issues. Ok, but we still we're charged for 4 drinks with $1.69 discount. How is that right? We paid the bill and left it at that since we didn't want to make a scene. First & last time for Waffle...

Last time we went for Togo at like 3 am. Of course. If you aren’t scared you’re gonna get shot are you really at Waffle House ? We did have to wait like 25 mins to order cause they were busy. But I only saw one or two servers and a cook. We didn’t complain or anything and we tipped. I felt bad cause they needed more servers. But I remember trying to apply there and when I had an interview I guess I didn’t answer the questions right ? Idk maybe I was too quiet for them. I thought they hired anyone. Apparently not cause they don’t have any staff. The poor dude server there was running around trying to bus tables, take orders, fix drinks and he was helping make food. Then also helping the other lady check people out. There was a huge group of scary looking people with hoods up with their hands in their pockets … I was waiting for someone to pull out a gun But yeah food was great and the guy server was great.
