Today is Veterans Day, and my girlfriend knows I enjoy visiting ‘Madre Rue” (Summerville) monthly. The service and food are good. Tonight we arrived and sat ourselves like the sign stated. We were greeted promptly and we asked if the owner/management offered any discounts for Retired Veterans. Our host stated no, only a happy Veterans Day verbally. Our waitress could not identify the beers 🍻 and stated she doesn’t drink beer 🍺. I asked about the two ‘Craft Beers’ and she named them but knew nothing about the alcohol content or what state produced them. I asked for a sample and it was awful so I just ordered off the beer menu. I got the IRISH Stew and my girlfriend got the fish and chips. The food came out quickly. Mine was Luke warm and not so flavorful, as I usually order the Reuben sandwich which is awesome 👏. As a Veteran, she chose this place today for our evening meal. I did expect something honoring our Veterans’s but as our waitress stated “only a happy Veterans Day”. The place began to get crowded and somewhat noisy, so we finished up quickly without being offered another drink for either of us. We still tipped our hostess well, but I have a new outlook upon re-visiting this establishment anymore. Every place I went today honored us Veterans in some appreciation, be it a discount or a free meal. Very disappointing at Madre Rue-Summerville this evening. I won’t be revisiting your...
Read moreI have always had a pretty good experience here but the past month has been sketchy. We go several times through out the month because my son loves eating here but the staff has been so rude lately besides the bartenders and the nice guy who always cleans off the tables. It started tonight when we walked in the door we were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a party of six which is fine by me. Well everyone walked off besides me and I was sitting on the bench all the waitresses were talking bad about my guest they didn’t realize I was still there. I am not sure if it was the owner or manager he nicely told them there were plenty of seats for us. We were seated after that in the back corner where the waitress slammed all of the menus on the table and repeatedly rolled her eyes at us. Most of our food was messed up. Due to the fact of the attitude she was asked nicely is everything ok did we do something to offend you because she was so kind to the tables around us. She stated no she knows we are regulars but she had a toothache and that’s why she was acting that way. As I said before the regular guy came and cleaned off our table and is so polite thank goodness for him. Food is good, manager or owner very nice gentleman, but...
Read moreAlthough I usually enjoy Madra Rua we never tried the brunch until today. We were unimpressed with the experience. I started with an Irish Coffee that was served with Luke warm with canned whip cream. It was an uninspiring drink that falls well short of what you would expect from and Irish Pub. I ordered the Irish Breakfast Bowl. It featured corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, diced tomatoes, and cheese. The corned beef hash was good, but the gravy was not a sausage gravy. It was a white gravy with pepper, I didn't taste or find any sausage in the dish. The dish is served with an English muffin that was served cold with 2 refrigerated cubes of butter. My wife had a sausage, ham, and cheese omelet with a side of hash browns. She expected a breakfast sausage, but it was cut slices of smoked sausage or kielbasa. The hash browns were plain and overdone cubed potatoes. Overall, we were just unimpressed with the experience and felt the food fell short of what one...
