No 1 China — Restaurant in South Elgin

This place used to be good when they first open, the quality of the food has gone down. Certain food on the menu is ok. The general tso chicken is a rip off and waste of money because it’s mainly all batter and barely any chicken meat! The lady at the front was rude towards me , she had the audacity to actually open up one of my take out boxes that I was paying for from the buffet to go as if I was trying to find a way to cheat the scale. That was extremely rude because I’m paying hard earned money to their restaurant and she had the audacity to open up one of my take boxes as if I was stealing or trying to cheat the scale. I’ve been coming here for 25 years since they first open with the original owners. That was just extremely rude of her. The place also needs to be remodeled! It’s extremely outdated and dirty. The quality of the food and the service was so much better with the original owners. I still come here but it’s sad to see the place and quality go down hill since they first open. This restaurant needs new owners, new management , remodeling . I am extremely upset at the fact that we ordered for the very first time on Christmas Eve 2024 at this place of business. We spent a total of 69.00 and some change within the order we had 2 large sweet and sour chickens and 1 small sweet and sour chicken which they did not put any sweet and sour sauce in the bag and we definitely were not going to go back as we live about 25 mins away. We order today on 01/04/2025 and I place the order online went to pick up the order to find out that they will only replace the small sweet and sour chicken that is not what we told that day we called to let them know. We didn't mess up the order they did and should have replaced all the sweet and sour chicken that we ordered that day so that being said food is great but I will not return to that place of business due too customer...

Not one to be THIS petty but I’ve been a regular customer at this SKETCHY place for over 5 years. I return each time (shame on me) because food is genuinely delicious, and reasonably priced, but each time I walk in there I regret ordering…today after working 12 hours at the hospital I come home with dinner for me and my children to find a dead fly in my meal. Ok. I get it, things happen blah blah blah.

But the way the owner handled the situation was worse than me finding a damn fly in my food!!

Best believe I let him keep his little money when my entire $50 went litterly to the trash and had to order food elsewhere. I sure did contact the Health Department.
