El Pescador — Restaurant in South Gate

What a disappointment, I stopped to eat at this place in South Gate, being that it's a chain restaurant and the West Covina location is so great. I ordered the 7 mares but the soup tasted nothing like a 7 mares should do. The soup was made of I'm assuming canned tomatoes and didn't have any flavor, paid $26.00 dollars for this horrible soup it's so ridiculous. I know prices have gone up but food should be flavorful and have the quality equal to the price. I basically ate a few shrimp and fished out some pieces of octopus and ate the crab legs, fish was absent I left all the "soup" I truly regret not choosing a different restaurant, for the money I spent could've had a great meal somewhere else. The corn tortillas were also bad they tasted sour🤮My server whom was so great but had to leave as soon as I got served my food because (her shift ended) after then nobody came to ask me if I needed anything. Hope this review serves as constructive criticism, my impression is that at this location they don't care which is so sad as this restaurant has other locations where they serve delicious food and the service...

I brought my mom here today to celebrate her 80 th bday …. Everything was fine until they brought my Pinacolda with a lemon on top of the glass really it should be a pineapple and or cherry. I am Alergic to Avocado, I asked the waitress no avocado and no tomato on my food, she said we can’t do that. I asked her to Please ask the cook she came back and said yes they can do it then when she brought the silverware I asked her to bring me plastic I do not use the metal ones she Rolled Her Eyes at a 360 Degrees I told her why did you roll your eyes I am the paying customer. It’s not by choice that I have health problems and need to be special on my self. I asked her I want to speak to the manger she said there is no manager here. I asked her what’s your name she said what ? I said what’s your name she said Maria I told her your a horrible waitress cancel my plate I am not going to eat. Thankfully everyone else ate With my stomach in a knott I paid the bill but no tip for this one.

This restaurant never disappoints my taste buds. I have been going to this location for many many years. since my oldest daughter was just a new born. 23 years now. The service and food are amazing. A bit slow with the follow up because they usually have only one or two waitresses and they are being very careful which I appreciate. But the food is just incredible. Even during the pandemic when inside dining was closed I still supported and they were and still are amazing. The owner to this location is a sweetheart. Very attentive and appreciative to all his customers. #1 reason why I keep going back. I would recommend the combination plate with Chile relleno, Shredded beef taco and enchilada. That is my favorite. But honestly everything there is delicious 😋 If you haven't visited, please do! you won't be sorry. Only thing I'd love to change there is to put a mirror in the ladies...
