La Palma Motel — Hotel in South Gate

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Checked in approximately 4pm, dropped my bags and left returned hours later and there were roaches in the shower and bathroom. Immediately put my things back in the car (thank God I had never unpacked a single item and wasn't there at all) and informed the 2 young guys that were suppose to be working but they were playing outside that they had roaches and I could not stay under those conditions and I needed to be checked out and refunded. They gave me a story about not being able to reach the owner for a refund. I informed them I would be back the next morning to speak with the owner and that I would be informing American Express about my issues with their property. Went back the next day still no owner and they tried to hand me a receipt for $110.01 for a night I didn't stay and wasn't in the room for more than the original drop off of my bags and then the Immediate pick up when I returned and seen roaches. They actually charged my card over $380 which was more than the original reservation and more than the faulty receipt they gave me (that they illegally dropped my signature from check in on) trying to charge me for a night I didn't stay due to their own uncleaniness and gross conditions of having ROACHES. BE AWARE AND DO NOT STAY HERE. My American Express will be handling them falsely charging my card and my lawyer will be handling the illegal use of my signature...Roaches and horrible customer service I would have rated a ZERO...

Positive: I was skeptical after reading some reviews but the room was acceptably clean, sheets were worn and stained but clean. I did not see any roaches or any weird smells. Staff was not rude got checked into my room no problem. Lots of places to eat nearby Negative: This place is not that bad you get what you pay for. Parking spaces are small and limited, neighboring guests can be loud throughout the night (ear plugs work great). I¿ve stayed at worse and paid more...

And there my wife and I were in Los Angeles again visiting a relative and we decided to spend the night there to catch our flight back home, despite the very affordable prices, the guy who helped us called Manuel was very friendly, spoke Spanish and English perfectly. The truth is that I never managed to understand where he was from, whether he was Arab or Latin, but the rooms were very beautiful and had a mango smell that my wife loved. We will definitely return...
