If I could give this place no stars I would. This place has a bait and switch system. You come for the menudo but you end up ordering something else . Why you ask ? Well it seems they only make menudo on the weekend and it supposedly sells out fast . I was there with my family at 10 am and it was sold out. I couldn't understand why , this place opens at 8am. So then were already there might as well order something else , so we order the torta , pozole ,tacos and three large horchatas. So we sit down and the waitress brings two large horchatas even do we ordered three,First mistake . Then we wait for 56 minutes for cold pozole and tacos and no torta. The lady who took my order was not paying attention when I spoke to her and was asking if I wanted to order it . I said no thanks I'll share my food with my kid. unfortunately you people can't get an order right . Something is wrong with this place , the food use to be super hot , you could see steam coming from it and the portion size are getting smaller . Here's a piece of advice for you , if you know the menudo sells fast why don't you make more or better yet make a part of the regular menu. Or at least let people know when they come in that your sold out . That way then won't have to waste their time ordering something else. Another piece of advice is let the cashier take only orders for dinning in and to go an have someone else get the phone orders . Obviously she's not paying attention to one person or the other because my food order was done all wrong . Final piece of advice stop tricking people into thinking that you have all the menu items when you don't. If you run out of something make more . Easy enough for you. I don't know whats happening to this place it used to be my favorite spot to come in every weekend, now I'll take my business elsewhere. This place has gone way down . The food is mediocre and the service is terrible. Good luck to you . Hope you...
Read moreCame for lunch on Sunday, after church. Was not crowded nor noisy, which we appreciated. We were greeted by chips and salsa, no charge. We each ordered the 2 chili relleno combo, which came with rice and beans and a small shredded lettuce salad. The portions were generous, the chili rellenos had plenty of cheese and were accompanied by a delicious sauce on top. We had our choice of piping hot flour tortillas. The price of $8.19 for each plate was a fantastic value. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Hubby also had 2 carne asada soft tacos. He said they were very good. We ended our meal by sharing a cheese flan, which was delicious. The only bummer was the fresh brewed iced tea. Obviously, the storage vessel needed a good scrubbing and the disagreeeable taste reflected that need.. Other than that,, a great experience. This restaurant has been here for decades, in various incarnations.Zavala is a winner!😊😊😊 Great little neighborhood place and we will be...
