I've never had a bad experience at Johnny's until tonight. The food is always excellent and never have anything bad to say. But the service had a lot to be desired. Tonight we had Natalie. From the moment we sat down, it felt rushed. She didn't extend a warm feeling that we were welcome in her section. There was no greeting. She immediately asked if we were ready to order food or appetizers and we hadn't even been sitting for 30 seconds or had time to look at the menu. When we finally decided to order we placed our daughters food and appetizer first to get her food before ours. We then ordered our food and sure enough ours came out before my daughter's and our appetizer. Natalie tried to blame the kitchen however funny thing was my daughters food and appetizer came first but sat on the servers station. When the runner came to deliver our food, Natalie became upset and all our food was dropped at the same time. No apology was given. Only blame on the kitchen. The food was excellent all around. There were three in our party and we were only given utensils for 2. I had to ask for water as we were never offered any and had to ask for napkins. I will return as long as I do not get her again. Prior to being sat, I observed her complaining about a tip that was left because there was exact change in the metal check holder. If you want people to spend more and stay longer, it helps to have a good impression up front. We would've stayed for an extra drink an dessert but we were so turned off by the overall experience of our server, we decided to forego dessert and leave. The other issues I had upon arrival is that there were about 8 or 9 tables empty and we had to wait 20 minutes to be sat due to being told they were being held for reservations. Funny thing again is those tables remained empty after we were sat and we're still empty when we left. We were there for over an hour. The only reason I would go back is because the food is excellent. The service needs to be revisited on what should be done. Don't make people wait if there are open tables and don't rush to get people in and out. A little tlc goes a long way to get people to spend a little more. Food 5 stars,...
Read moreFirst of all I went there because I heard on the radio station that Johnny's bar and grill would be serving food from like the "Hukilau restaurant". First of all the the waitress said that the wings were off the menu by 8:15 p.m. prices are overrated and their food is nothing more of a homemade style cooked in a Crock-Pot with parts of the rice still White, I ordered pork fried rice Golden fingers and so-called sticky beef ribs. Sorry to say nothing like the hukilau I don't know why they even allowed to announce such a famous name with misleading plates like that. I ordered the pork fried rice and it had no pork or eggs in it as they claim to serve. Luckily it was just me and not a date to try to impress even the gold fingers were undercooked due to their made up flower batter that turned golden before they were actually cooked. The ribs were the bomb👍👍👍 but for Chinese food not good. I actually grew up eating food from the hukilau in Chicopee but that was not it especially with the overcharging menú. I ordered a drink upon reaching my table 2 minutes later the food was out without duck sauce I asked the waiter for some but she kept bypassing me to address the bigger table when I finally got her attention she told me to wait then she finally came waiting on other people then came back with the duck sauce that was also homemade. crazy that in Chinese food man nothing more than overrated charging of misleading food. The only thing real good in there was the sticky ribs and the corona beer. I believe I would have been better off going to the won- wok restaurant in Springfield. At least that you can really compare to the hukilau restaurant.,...
Read moreMy first experience there was good. The food came out quickly, hot, and was tasty. The servers are attentive and polite as well. Some negatives (for me) is the tight seating a loud atmosphere. It was very difficult to have a conversation. The other issue I had was the choice of entrees. It seems like they like to serve items that are hot or spicy. You have to be careful if you're someone who doesn't prefer these types of appetizers/entrees. That said, there is a lot to choose from. If you get the fish and chips, you won't be disappointed with the portion size or quality of fish/prep. Though, you won't have room for anything else if you clean your plate! I don't typically eat fried food, but I'm glad I tried it. The fries were perfect. Crunchy outside, semi-soft inside. I never take fries home in a box. I did this time! I'd go back if I was looking for fish and chips. But, the fact that there's a lot of hot and spicy on the menu, it doesn't leave me a lot of choices. In summary, good food, nice staff, and lots of menu options (especially if you like hotter/spicier foods). The only drawback IMHO is tight seating, menu leans hot, and loud atmosphere. I think outdoor seating (dependent on weather) would be preferable if you're looking to have conversation with your dinner. Oh, and according to someone I went to dinner with who used the facilities... they are impeccably clean! That's always...
