To whom it may concern,
I have been a loyal customer of Carreta Restaurant on 87th and Bird Road since I was 10 years old. I am now 52. It saddens me to have to write this complaint after more than 40 years of wonderful memories at your establishment.
Today, Saturday, April 26th, at around 11:30 AM, I witnessed something that truly disturbed me. As I was sitting and waiting to be helped, I saw one of your employees drop an entire box of coffee stirring spoons onto the floor. Instead of properly discarding them, he simply dragged them across the dirty floor, picked them up, and put them right back into the box as if nothing had happened.
Even worse, the front desk cashier, who was on duty at the time, witnessed the entire incident and did nothing about it. Rather than telling him to throw the utensils away, she laughed and continued working as if this was normal and acceptable behavior.
I immediately brought the issue to the general manager’s attention. To his credit, he acted quickly and dumped the box. However, the fact that this incident happened in the first place — and that a cashier who should uphold basic hygiene standards allowed it to go unnoticed until a customer spoke up — is extremely disappointing and alarming.
There are cameras above the front desk, so I am certain that everything I witnessed is recorded.
This is a serious health and sanitation issue. Customers trust restaurants to follow basic hygiene practices. Incidents like this destroy that trust.
I truly feel that the employee responsible, Julian, should be held accountable for his actions, and that your staff should undergo immediate retraining on proper food safety and sanitation procedures.
It pains me to say this about a place that has been part of my life for decades, but I can no longer feel comfortable dining here unless significant corrective...
Read moreI've been coming here for over 20+ years, from the time it used to been a bikers haven, all during high school and then some ... The food is always great ... However, the service is like playing Russian Roulette ... 90% of the time, service is wonderful - starting from the hostess and then forward ... Today was that 10% ...
Our server, MARILIN gave the 'I really don't wanna be here today' vibe and it showed ... She did the bare minimum of her job and that's about it ... No pleasantness, barely smiled, asking for a little more water or a second basket of bread seem like an 'inconvenience' to her ... Having said that, I pride myself in ALWAYS taking care of my servers, never tipping less than 20% (usually more) & I always try to give them cash instead of putting it on my card, pilling the plates and generally, leaving things for them easier to turn over their table and get another customer in there so they can make their 💰 ... Checking out on the card reader, I remembered I had cash and took out the tip ... She rudely told (not asked) me 'you deleted the tip, aren't you going to tip me?' Apparently, the look of disgust I gave her was enough to get the point across and she backed down quickly - she huffed and left ... My initial feeling was to leave her nothing but we all gotta pay rent, thus left her only 18%, undeserved ... I'm slightly petty, so I made sure to write it on the receipt not to make assumptions or act entitled next time because you never know ...
2 stars for the food, 1 star for the hostess and bus people and ZERO for her! The food is worth coming here and hope y'all get the 90% of the good service...
Read moreI have gone to La Carreta in many different ocassions and I must say this last visit I had was so terrible that I left and the family and I took our food, because the level of service was so terrible. From the beginning. Our server Ms. Midelfa, trust me that I will not sit if I should even visit La Carreta again where this server is at, because the lack of Customer Service, and the demeanor of this server was as if she did not want to be working. Everyone from the young man serving the water to the one serving the bread were nice, but this server was terrible. The Server will not look at toy at your face and our food took nearly an hour for some sandwiches and hamburgers for the kids. I spoke to the Supervisor Mr. Ariel because and I were so discontent with the service this time around that this one experience makes me look at the lack of customer service of this employee and representing at the time of my service La Carreta the representation in our book was less than a zero. The Manager says that in the defense of the Restaurant that they were having problems with their sandwich maker, and my response where he had to agree was that COMMUNICATION to the customers is the key to goodservice, I do not mind waiting but keep me informed as to what's going on, so that I am not just sitting and waiting forever. There is no excuse in this and any other business for lack of communication, lack of proper etiquette and customer service to a restaurant chain so big, where they pride themselves behind their name. Well not this time the service was beyond poor and there is no...
