It has been such a comforting thing to find a new go-to restaurant for me and my wife. Felina Steak South Orange has been unbelievable with their hospitality. Shoutouts to Naji (I hope I’m spelling his name right) - our first visit, despite the wait on the food, was made pleasant by how attentive he was to us. The rest of the staff has been the same, and that just makes us want to continue being patrons of the place.
And the wait was well-worth it. This place has some of the most amazing pasta that you can find anywhere. Super chefs Ray Russo and Priscilla Chu have turned us into fans. The community is lucky to have this high level and quality of food accessible. Highlights for us have been the Rigatoni, Garganelli and the new special with the pasta being run through a chitarra that turns into a shrimp scampi. The humble Cesar salad is also really goood - breadcrumbs smartly dusted to coat the leaves instead of serving it with traditional cubed croutons.
Last night, we were there for a wine and cheese tasting, and events like this really make an otherwise dull week more fun. Can’t wait for the next one.
They really pay attention to the customers, to the food they serve, and to how else they can make your visit memorable.
See you guys...
Read moreVisited for my birthday. I received my own menu with my name on it and a personalized dessert! Space is open and inviting. White linens made it feel elevated but not stuffy. Super comfortable. Live music was a nice touch and not over powering. Beautiful bar. Great outdoor seating. Terrific drinks. Outstanding service. We had the arancini, crudo, filet mignon, and the lobster and shrimp fricassee. All executed and seasoned perfectly (I’ve seen other reviews which suggested otherwise. Not our experience). There’s something for everyone on this menu! Only down tick…while the crème brûlée was super luscious with a tasty cookie and the freshest berries, it lacked the crack. In any case, I am so glad we departed from my local favorite (starts with an L) and took a chance. I would return for drinks, for brunch, for a quick lunch and of course dinner. Thank you for making my...
Read moreFelinas is a restaurant that I want so badly to succeed but is so out of touch with the reality of what this town desperately wants and what we expected it to be - an approachable family friendly place with good food and drinks that won’t break the bank. Its predecessor didn’t do well because the food was bad. Now it is better, and reasonably priced for what it is (a steakhouse), but too expensive to be a regular go-to spot. The terrace side is finally reopening with a more casual menu but the hours are late only and NO KIDS. The hospitality group behind felinas should take notes from all the thriving spots in Hilton (Arties, Perla, even the brewery!) that consistently draw crowds -even on weekdays - (myself included) to understand what South Orange needs. They invested so much into renovating this huge central space in town, I worry it will end up abandoned because they...
