Bayleaf has some negative person dealing with customers who has no listening skills or customer care. I ordered on their bayleafnj site and when I called the person who answered said that my order was for pickup only. When corrected that I had indeed selected delivery, added my address and whatnot, the guy was rude and dismissive. The facts are that the business website allowed me to select delivery with no mention of a minimum. Rather than saying anything along the lines of “Apologies for our site error. The minimum actually is ($) could you please order more or we will need to cancel the order” or anything true and professional, Instead this person lied and said they didn’t have a delivery driver! Pure Lie. He was literally about to hang up without any resolution attempt when I asked for a refund with this crude person but I HAVE YET TO SEE THE REFUND OR THE CONFIRMATION THAT THE ORDER WAS EVEN CANCELLED. There’s more to the disrespect but I’m abridging the story if you can believe it. Having a business outright lie to me to deny basic accountability is majorly off-putting. This is not energy I want around my meal.
If you want quality Indian cuisine nearby, redirect your attention to JALWA IN MONTCLAIR. I’ve ordered from them and time after time the food has been delicious, flavorful, and generous. JALWA has the ABSOLUTE BEST VEGETABLE KORMA I’VE HAD ANYWHERE. My advice: Go there instead. Bayleaf feels like gentrified, westernized impression of Indian (not very redefined. More the growing status quo) And after dealing with their staff I’m sure my money is better invested in a place that respects their customer and is a good...
Read moreThe food is always delicious but this review is for the server/cashier - Sagar. I called twice for my order and asked for Indo Chinese vegetarian options. In the end placed One Paneer Gravy and One Indo Chinese Gobi Manchurian. 10-15 mins after placing order on my way to pick up order called to ask that Gobi Manchurian is gravy (not dry) subzi right. He told no it's not gravy but order is ready and cannot be altered, I said okay on my way.
Upon reaching, I asked for the person who took the order, he was on the phone but came in the face saying it was me, as if ready to take the challenge. I said about being a frequent customer but why would you let the me order non-gravy option, when you know I am ordering for kids mild gravy main courses. He said I don't care and do whatever you want. I told him to stop being disrespectful by coming/talking back at the customer instead of atleast being receptive, instead he became more fierce and said again DO WHATEVER YOU WANT. I still paid, told him thank you and he did a favor by throwing (instead of handing) the receipt in anger and again telling DO WHATEVER YOU WANT while I was walking out. There were two more employees standing next to him who witnessed this uncalled for behavior.
Very rude and pathetic to see such inconsiderate customer facing/serving employees who seem to be full of rage. Tell them your issue and they want to bite you back.. Really feel sorry.. I will not drive from Millburn instead just go to Tandoori Chef 2 in Maplewood instead of driving to...
Read moreBeing a regular patron of Neelam when it was at its top and also see it slide down just before closing I decided to try this new Indian restaurant that has replaced Neelam. It is a good restaurant with friendly staff. Good ambiance and well laid-out buffet. The lunch weekday buffet is $10.99 + taxes. They only have chicken items in the non-veg selection - no goat or fish and hence they loose a star. In fact it was a chicken overload - tandoori chicken (which was moist and flavorful), chicken manchurian, kadhai chicken, butter chicken and chicken biryani. You see where I am going with this. Needs some variety in the meat! Given that I like a little more variety in the non-veg selections (not the number of dishes but types of meat) I may not be a frequent repeat customer but will surely visit again once in a while (assuming they don't jack up the prices in a few months or change the service-levels like most Indian restaurants are known to do).
Only one dessert in the buffet which I think is fine. I also personally felt they could have had better appetizers like samosas or papdi chat but by no means a deal-breajer. The place is clean, buffet well stacked, food is tasty, and service is good. The naan bread is hot, fluffy and served at the table. The chicken biryani in the buffet was also good. Please try you wont be...
