Dixie Freeze — Restaurant in South Pittsburg

I love little restaurants like this. This place is great rustic and quiet no music or blaring tv. The place only had a few tables open when we arrived and everyone looked like they were enjoying the food and each others company. We ordered southwestern burger with fries and the dixie dagwood with tots. Burgers were amazing and the tots were perfect. I wanted a banana split but was so stuffed I couldnt do it however I did ask if they had a banana split shake they didnt. I was sad until my hero spoke up and said she could figure it out. Oh my the shake she whipped up should be on the menu AMAZING!!! banana split to go! Next time we are back down here we know where we'll be stopping to eat. Thank you ladies for great service...

Was passing through on my way back home, and decided to look up a little ma&pa shop to eat at real quick. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is awesome. Kinda small, but it's got that grandparents house feeling to it. However, my son got a Philly cheese steak and I, a burger. They both came out quick and was fresh and soft bread, but the meat on both felt bland and lacked season and flavor. The fries are just supermarket fries, so meh at best. I don't believe I'll be stopping by here in my future endeavors. But, would recommend you try it and give it your own opinion. Maybe the rest of the food makes up for it. It was our 1st time. We love little "mom & pop" local places and frequent them often. I was so disappointed. We arrived around 20 minutes before closing. We ordered 3 burgers with fries. Total was $21-$22. The cook announced he would have to make them fresh....awesome. We got them in a timely manner, actually too quick. My first bite I knew the patty had been microwaved. The meat was rubbery and chewy. Only open 6 hours a day and couldn't be bothered to dirty up the grill after it was cleaned. I know this because I've worked in restaurants. The crinkle fries were good. The bun and veggies were fresh. We won't be going back...
