Cerritos (chantilly) — Restaurant in South Riding

First time back here after a long hiatus. Cerritos is not much to look at from the outside...or the inside. It looks like a run down highway greasy spoon restaurant. Parking lot is unstructured gravel with potholes.

The restaurant is extremely popular with local immigrants, and it was still crowded for lunch at 2pm on a Tuesday.

The authentic Salvadoran food is amazing. I got the fajita mixta with mouthwatering chicken and steak. The steak was somewhat fatty, but that's not at all unusual for taqueria's. It came with grilled green pepper and onions, refried beans and rice, salad, a grilled chile pepper, and two corn tortillas.

Seeing the food arrive was kind of breathtaking. The plate is beautifully arranged, and my first thought was, "How am i going to eat all that?" Im glad i forgot to order a pupusa.

I ordered the fruit cocktail drink, a mixture of fresh tropical juices topped with pineapple, grapes, apples, peaches, mango, and melon. It was very refreshing.

The service was fast, courteous, and attentive. Prices were good, but i got one of their most expensive dishes.

I would have given it 4.5 stars if i could, but 4 was too low. If you dont mind shaky tables and cracked floors, you will enjoy the food. Im looking forward to coming back for...

After driving past this place for years and always seeing an extremely crowded parking lot, we decided to take a break from work and grab lunch here. Do yourself a favor and don't wait as long as we did!

Walking in we had a short line before we ordered to go, and staff was friendly and helpful telling us about different things on the menu. We ended up 9with a pork and cheese pupusa, an 'everything' pupusa, and a chicken burrito. Our favorite was the burrito, most specifically the seasonings on the chicken were delicious. Burrito was packed full, well wrapped, and good distribution of filling through the whole thing. I'm not generally a fan of pupusas, and these were consistent with others I've had, if not better. But plenty of other options to try!

Highly recommend this establishment, we will be back. Prices were awesome as well, $20 for all of that food we had more than enough to eat!

A few months later, taste of food still ok but I don't trust their cleanness anymore. I believe the ownership has been changed. The old servers were gone, new young man with attitudes, my friend had a bowl of beef soup last time we're there (5 month ago), she keep run to bathroom after, the following day, the store was closed down for few day with a sign hung on the door saying for renovation, and it keep happen for those month..... I gave up on them already.

This place is always packed with good food, good price and friendly. Love their Shrimp plates, jumbo shrimp, excellent cooked! And the rice with baked bean, you would finish the plate even you're not hungry. I brought my own glass container for carry out, they're happy to do it for me even...
