My baby was crying a lot in the car as me and my girlfriend were waiting for my parents and 3 out-of-state visiting cousins to come meet us at Chowking for dinner. She had pooped herself a lot so obviously she had to be changed very soon.
I come in by myself asking the tall guy with tattoos if there was a baby changing table in their restroom, I feel like I asked clearly what it was, the guy said no, and I left. I was able to make it work in my car and we just continued waiting for my family.
They arrived so we all went inside, and took turns ordering. Our cashier was the tall guy with tattoos. My cousins got their food, my mom was ordering for her and my dad and my little family. I got the combo that had pancit and fried chicken with rice and a soda, I had to clarify my order multiple times because I thought the cashier didn’t know what I was trying to ask for.
My mom then tried ordering and he was monotone as hell not welcoming at all, which kinda sucks for a service job you’re the face of the place when customers come in. My order came with a drink and I went back to ask if I got the right order because I got the entree with soda, then he realized it and gives me my cup for the fountain drinks.
I went inside the restroom after ordering to see if they have a table and yes, they do. Going back to the beginning of it all, I don’t know if he knew what I was talking about or just didn’t want to let me change my baby’s diaper in the restroom. Maybe he thought I was lying and didn’t have a baby, I don’t know, I do understand the customers-only aspect of it but I got a baby I don’t see why you would refuse that. Overall the guy ruined the vibe over there for the small part, my family’s presence made up for it all. Honestly would not come again and rather stick to the other Filipino...
Read moreWe usually come to this Chow King location when we visit my wife's aunt in Pacifica. My son loves to eat taho (basically silkened tofu with some sago "boba like balls, but softer and not so chewy" and brown sugar syrup), so we usually come here to purchase that. Sometimes, like today we also purchased some siopao (pork buns) for an additional snack. The food is pretty consistent compared to other Chow King locations. We came kind of late to Chow King (~7pm), so it's hit or miss on the availability of taho as they usually sell out that late in the day. They did have the 4 servings of taho that we ordered, but they must have been low on the sago as they were skimping a little with the sago. The siopao was delicious as usual, but we were a little bummed that they forgot to include the delicious sauce for the siopao. Staff is usually very nice at this location. Usually the wait for the food is fairly fast. Hoping to have a better...
Read moreFirst observation when you enter, this place is CLEAN and well maintained, which makes for a pleasant and inviting dining experience. Most folks at the register are friendly and efficient. We come for a quick small snack during our morning walk. A 4 piece siomai takes the edge off and are flavorful little nuggets of dim sum. The tocino and garlic fried rice is also a satisfying breakfast--the pork is soft and juicy paired with vinegar dipping sauce (my favorite)! The fried egg is cooked perfectly, not runny at all. Small suggestion for their drink station: they should consider offering some Filipino-styled tropical drinks such as calamansi or pineapple to cut through the rich flavors of the meals. Overall, Chowking is a good spot for a quick stop with plenty of parking for easy access. Be sure to take advantage of their online ordering to get some discounts,...
