We ate here twice while staying in the area. The first time was a dine in experience and the second time was a take out. I don't know how the price compares to other sushi restaurants in SF. It seemed a bit pricey yet the items also seemed to be of unique take. So the price seemed justified based on that (for us anyway). If you are someone who has more experience with sushi places in SF, you may have a different opinion. The staff was great both times and were really thoughtful regarding my wife's gluten allergy. The first day I got two specialist rolls and were slightly taken aback that the rolls didn't quite match the pictures for the look of them. The taste of both were good with the first one being slightly better than the second one. The second day I ordered take-out karaage chicken ( i think it's spelled a little different) and tempura vegetables. They were both good and can't really say anything good or bad about them. I would recommend ordering them in the restaurant though since by the time we got back home, the chicken was not as hot and seemed like it would have been a lot better right from the fryer. Overall, we would eat there again and try some of the other more "fancy" style...
Read moreAfter hearing great things about Sushi Kashiwa, I brought my mom here for her birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. While they were busy as it was a Friday night, they made sure my mom had a special night for her celebration.
We ordered a variety of rolls and everything was delicious. My favorite was the Japanese Oysters and Bluefin Toro w/ Uni Nigiri. Toro and Uni was buttery smooth and just melted in my mouth. Another highlight dish is the Kashiwa Supreme Sushi Box, which is a mini omakase. This was a great way to sample all the different dishes and flavors the restaurant had to offer. My dad ordered their udon with shrimp tempura (not pictured) and he gave it a two thumbs up!! From their starters to their rolls to their kitchen entrees, this place is a 10/10.
I’m already looking forward to my next meal here at Sushi Kashiwa so I highly recommend you come and...
Read moreWe've been eager to try this new sushi restaurant as the reviews seem to be positive. We ordered the nigiri omakase (7 PC) and Chirashi bowl, chicken karaage, and combination tempura. The tempura/ karaage was good only wish they included the ground radish as it appeared on the photos. The karaage tasted different the normal kaarage we normally get from other places, this one had cumin. Now what I was really excited about was their sushi/sashimi and very disappointed. The fish in both sushi and sashimi were off and tasted old and fishy. Also, there were 3 pieces of fish with tough sinew and found a piece of fish scale after biting into it. The service was good however, they came back to pour tea a couple of times which was their saving grace. Would I recommend? Probably not because sushi needs to be very fresh not fishy taste. Maybe they had...
