Yummy House — Restaurant in South Sioux City

Went to Yummy House today, the appetizers were so good!! As we were eating them my daughter reminded me we were going to be late for a prior engagement I had spaced off… we were waiting for our entrees but I knew we had to leave if we were going to make it. So I asked if we could possibly get the food to go.

The chef came out and asked if it was because they were taking too long. I assured her that was ABSOLUTELY NOT the reason we had to leave, & that I forgot about somewhere we had to be by 6:30. She said ok, smiled and went to the kitchen.

The waitress came out and said the boss said to not charge you for the drinks, I insisted that it was nothing they had done to cause this, she went back to the kitchen. She Came back with our check and then said the boss gave you a 10% discount as well! I once again insisted that I should pay for it, it wasn’t their fault by any means. They insisted that was the price!

The food was amazing! Their customer service was equally impressive!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We’ll be back after I check the calendar and make sure I haven’t double booked us! 😬🥴

We had the crab Rangoons, spring rolls, gyoza, chicken fried rice, teriyaki chicken, and the PAD THAI 😍🤤

This place would have formerly been a 4-5 stars from me but it has significantly declined in quality.

They removed the Vietnamese beef stew which was arguably the best thing on the entire menu, the spicy beef noodle soup (Bún bò Huế) is no longer spicy and just tastes like regular pho, they don't have grilled pork anymore except on weekends which is really weird and a bad move and even the chili crisp which used to be one of the best I have ever had tastes bland and like it has been sitting around getting stale.

Unfortunately I really can't recommend this place anymore except maybe for just the regular pho. Everything else can be found elsewhere made with more care and flavor.

I know these are difficult times for restaurants in general but getting rid of everything that made you worth visiting...

10/04/25 UPDATE: I want to publicly thank the owner of this establishment for reaching out to me directly. I wrote a very disappointing post originally, because I was never served while waiting to enjoy what was described as a very pleasurable restaurant. They took my criticism to heart and seem very sincere in what they wrote me, about their efforts to create a positive dining experience.

I have yet to eat there, but again I thank them for listening to the public. Because of their attention to honest criticism I will go back and give them try. I have since edited my original post
