Ended up here due to the restaurant we were told to try being closed. Boy did we find a gem. The inside of the restaurant is nothing special, but it is clean and well maintained. They only have canned soda, but they served it with a glass of ice so it was no problem for us. They brought chips and salsa while we decided what to order and their chips were really good. Real corn tortia chips that had lots of flavor and the salsa was really flavorful too. Where this place shines is the main food. My son had a chimichonga that was huge and so good he can't stop talking about it. My wife loved her carne asada burrito. It was so big she has lunch for tomorrow. I had their fajitas, which the waitress recommended. The were cooked perfectly with a mixture of steak, chicken and shrimp. Even the shrimp was cooked perfectly. My son had one and called it succulent. They were the best I have had in the Sioux City area. The waitress always made sure we had what we needed. To top it off, the bill was less than $45 for all three of us. This place is where you go when you want excellent Mexican food, but not all the pomp and circumstance of many good sit down Mexican restaurants. Run don't walk to this restaurant. You will...
Read moreFood was okay, not anything to write home about but like a solid 6-5-7.5 as far as authentic Mexican food goes. But writing this review mainly as a forewarning to others: staff can be needlessly hostile sometimes. Wife and I were trying to go on a date. She wanted to record a Timelapse of us because she posts to social media a “day of life in America” and in the middle of our date the waitress comes over to ask if we’re recording. I answered yes then she got confrontational demanding the recording be shut off. No signage anywhere suggesting that we weren’t allowed to record, just an indignant employee about a policy that isn’t clearly displayed anywhere.
Already felt so-so about the okayish food with old cafeteria vibes but definitely not going back after that interaction. At the end of it wasn’t given an actual itemized receipt just an employee claiming $36.50 then charging over $40 for the other with no explanation of why....
Read moreBelow average at best. Unfortunately the negative reviews were correct and I've only experienced the drive through. I gave my order, was charged, then another employee came to the window 5 minutes later and asked for my order again "just incase" and as many other reviews have stated the price changed. He said the first employee "forgot a burrito" at which point he charged me $8.50 while the menu states $7.99. (no tax) I asked him about all the negative reviews claiming of price changes, price changes at the window, and the menu prices being wrong and he shrugged and said sorry. The food came in large quantities but no flavor, hot sauce sucked, and they messed up our order anyway. Plus, it took 26 minutes to get our food from time of order. Safe to say, I will never be returning here again.
("chimichanga was not...
