Mom Maruca's Pizza Shop — Restaurant in South Union Township

This was our second time trying this establishment out. First time i ordered a large pizza and a small pizza. They said 20 minutes, i show up after the stated time and wait about 15 more minutes. I say to myself 'maybe they are busy are understaffed, cant really judge a place on that'. Upon receiving the pizza's i was a bit shocked at what i payed vs what i got. The large is the size of a personal pan pizza. It also was super bready and basically tasteless. Definitely would not recommend thier pizzas.

So my girlfriend and I decided to give this place another shot for thier wings. The wings were of ample size, but the sauces tasted old and perhaps expired? We had the station 40 and some garlic butter wings. The garlic butter taste like it was cut with oil and the garlic definitely felt and taste old. The station 40 was almost too sweet. We also ordered a basket of fries with shrimp tails.

The funny thing was there was a loud local patron at the bar complaining about another establishments prices for two salads and a sandwich. Our bill with a 20% tip was 50$. Granted I understand wings are expensive right now but i would argue there's little extra value in trying this place out.

We used to say this was the number one pizza in town. We had not ordered from here in over half a year due to inconsistency in the pizza, but I wanted to go for another attempt as we had loved the pizza previously. Unfortunately the pizza was probably worse than previously. My 6 year old wouldn’t eat it and is not a picky eater. My 9 year old politely ate her slice. My wife was hopeful when I told her “no cooking or dishes for us tonight, just pizza!,” however also said “it’s been spotty there…” I assured her it had been long enough, but unfortunately long enough to get worse. Also my kids and I picked up the pizzas and they both asked “Why does it say no colors? No weapons…?” I understand that there may have been problems in the last, but I wanted to bring up that it made my kids immediately feel uncomfortable as I explained to them why the sign was there. Hopeful it can turn around, but I don’t think I’ll be able to convince my family to try the pizza again (we used to make it a Friday night usually in our home to get take out pizza from here, so it is...

Passing through Uniontown, I decided I wanted pizza for dinner. Looked up sit-down pizza joints close to my hotel and found Mom's. It's a little sports bar where it seems a lot of the locals go. Wasn't too crowded. Lots of TVs with lots of games on. Everybody seemed to be familiar with everybody else. Nice atmosphere. Service was good. Quick, friendly and helpful. But the one thing I came in for was pizza. It was not good. I hope I don't insult Mom's secret family recipe, but the crust was like poorly cooked frozen pizza crust. It was chewy and gummy with no flavor. Totally overshadowed any taste from the toppings. I would have preferred Pizza Hut pizza for nostalgia sake rather than what I had. Service and atmosphere...
