We had a bit of a disappointing experience at Biaggio’s in Allentown. It was the traditional last night before Passover starts pizza offering, and this was our choice.
Initially I was excited that they offered complementary Randy or white wine. Free wine! At a restaurant! Count me in! Unfortunately this wine Also, the line was served in plastic cups which was strange.
For an Italian restaurant, which theoretically has lots of vegetarian options, this place wasn't particularly vegetarian friendly. For example they had many many salad options most of which automatically had chicken in them. I'm sure you could order it without the chicken but if you're going to have such an extensive salad menu, shouldn't you have vegetarians in mind in the choices that you offer as defaults?
The portions are fairly large on what they offer which I'm sure is exciting to America gets excited when there's so much food on the plate.
Our kid had the macaroni and cheese. The macaroni wasn't particularly good and the fries, where is they looked good, were coated in something. Rule of thumb for french fries – if you can't make decent regular french fries, and have to rely on coding them in something, you shouldn't be offering french fries at your restaurant. Also rule of thumb for macaroni and cheese for kids…it should always be the basic mac and cheese. If a kid doesn’t like your mac and cheese, you have strayed in the wrong direction.
Most of us were sharing a large cheese pizza. The first pizza came out under done, the crust was mushy. We had to send it back. Ultimately the end result wasn’t that great.
One of us got their gluten-free pizza. Kudos to you Biaggio’s for offering gluten-free crust, however you did get the order wrong…it was ordered without cheese and, sure enough, came with cheese. It had to be sent back. Also the mushrooms topping tasted canned. Canned vegetables of any kind do not make for good tasting pizza.
I hate to right off of the pizza place, but this is the East Coast for god sake and pizza everywhere should be awesome. This was our experience here at Biaggio’s, and we likely...
Read moreTo be completely transparent I offer you both the positives and the negatives so you can make your own decision. With Biaggio's the positives more than outweigh the negatives for me.
We have been long-time customers of the Ruffino family restaurants and have always loved their food. Biaggios is on par with what you expect from them. Incredible staff, genuine people offering genuine service. The serving sizes are generous as are the pizza toppings. They just have everything you could ask for in a local pizza shop+. Their white pie is my absolute favorite.
The crusts aren't NY style thin which is why they aren't my absolute go to pizza joint, but here it's about the toppings and they do them well. If you have the chance to dine in, definitely go for the pasta dishes. Doesn't matter which one, there's a lot of love that goes into them. Biaggios just feels like your favorite Aunt's kitchen, on steroids. Friendly, ample, quality, loud, conversational, reliable. Just like Nonna's but more expensive. That's one of two negatives I have; they're kind of pricey compared to the others around here. The menu is basically the same as everyone else, at a premium. But you get more attention and love into the main dishes here than elsewhere. The other negative is they can really go overboard with the toppings. Not the good ones like cheese either. Twice I've had a specialty pie that had, no lie, like a whole onion on it in huge slices. Too many but chunks of tomatoes in the marinara... But when it comes down to it, can you really complain about a family business who truly cares about their customers, for giving too much on a dish? I picked off the excess and chalked up the slightly higher price to their generosity.
Love this restaurant, love the family,...
Read moreHORRIBLE! Came here on a Friday night and the place was packed - ok, well it’s a Friday NBD, it happens. However, the “hostess” was extremely rude; way more interested in socializing with her friends than tending to guests and apparently if she doesn’t recognize you than you’re not worth her time. I had to ask another guest where to go in order to pick up an order made ahead of time. The pick up line was over 14 people long. This line included people like me picking up orders placed over the phone AND people who had not even ordered yet! VERY disorganized! Every restaurant you go to has two separate and distinct locations for this. When it was finally my turn the woman at the register walked away. When she came back, I paid for my order - via card (which if you’re not paying cash they charge an additional 3+%) but then she withheld the receipt. Having stood in line all this time I noticed she had not done this to anyone else. I asked for my receipt. She said “have a good night” and walked away. I was still standing there when she came back and she said “that’s it you can go.” I told her “no, I need my receipt.” Then she went on talking about how it’s been a long night and no need to be short with her. Look lady, your staff is rude, yourself included, your process is disorganized, and you’re purposely being a butt, if you can’t muster up a decent attitude you shouldn’t be in a business that thrives on customer service. I will NOT return to this establishment again. IDC how good your food is, attitude and the way you treat your...
