Sake Asian Fusion — Restaurant in Southbury

I’ve been here firstly when I go from NY to Boston via New Haven. We wanted to get something Japanese and I just searched a “Japanese cuisine”. This place showed up and we took an exit literally cutting other curs (sport if you remember me). When we get inside I was shocked of design of this place. It’s look like I’m in Downtown of NYC, not a suburb of New Haven.

I’ve ordered a salmon teriyaki with Phily Maki. I always order exactly this dishes since they are my favorite. And I’ve tried them a lot.

In this place salmon is the best. It really looks like “grilled”. It even has a grilled crispy crust, which is so tasty! I’m going crazy about it. (Pictures attached).

Phily Maki is amazing as well! A lot of salmon, a lot of cream cheese and thin layer of rice. It’s impossible to wish a better.

Today was my second visit. And when I think about the lunch or dinner I don’t think too long, since I already have stared this place in my maps.

We ordered take out Pad Thai with chicken and Thai Beef curry also 2 spring rolls with Thai chili sauce. It was the worst food we had ever had. The Pad Thai was left over from last night or something, it stuck together without any sauce or any fresh veggies like scallions and maybe two pieces of dry chicken were put on top. The Beef Thai curry had mushy eggplant in it and the beef was totally unseasoned almost boiled like. This was totally disgusting no spices, heat or flavor - greasy. We threw it out into garbage. We were going to call to complain but decided to chalk it up to bad experience and post a review. Maybe the sushi is better there but the dinners are totally gross! I have been going to Sake for many years. Every time my wife and I go, we are greeted by friendly staff and have an amazing meal. The food is different than usual Asian food, flavorful and plenty. We leave there saying that "we could eat this food every night". Never a disappointment! I never think to write a review since we always assume that everyone likes Sake. I'm sure they have many loyal customers who don't bother to write a review so I thought it was time to do so.
