We are on a quest to try every Mexican restaurant in the Reno/Sparks area. Tonight we decided to visit La Fuentes on Baring in Sparks.

Since we tend to dine early, we were the only patrons at that moment. Service was quick and friendly. All service personnel were helping each other so we wanted for nothing.

The wife ordered a carnitas tostada plate. I ordered a bowl of albondigas and a vegetarian salad. The tostadas were on a four inch crispy tortilla with chopped bits of pork, beans, tomatoes, lettuce, tiny drops of crema and guacamole. The wife reports that the tostadas were okay, a bit below average.

The albondigas soup was good. The vegetarian salad was not some much. However, my weird taste buds demanded that I combine the two dishes. With flour tortillas, the mashup turned into something that I enjoyed.

The interior was the standard Mexican cultural display. The booths are uncomfortable due to the high seat height and short seat. Stick to the tables.

We will probably try again if we are passing by but not a...

This restaurant must have changed ownership! Combo dinners started at $18. Tortilla chips tasted store bought, not fresh made like our last visit, waiter took our orders then came back to tell us they were out of tamales 🫔 enchiladas were like rubber, cheese tasted rancid, food was cold, orders arrived at the table at different times, several minutes apart, drinks 🥤 were too strong, temperature in the restaurant was about 65 degrees, party of 6 adults and 3 younger kids. 3 adults had two mixed drinks each, the other 6 had soda, the bill was $405 without the tip. I feel bad for the waiter. He was at the mercy of a bad cook and bad bartender. The food and drinks were terrible! I still left a decent tip despite the poor quality, the waiter did a good job. won’t be back, EVER! P.S. clean your...

Love love love their "Cazuelas", just enough tequila to not ruin a drink, and definitely not a girly drink you usually get with mixed drinks. Fish tacos are awesome! Their chips and salsa are unique and fresh, I can definitely tell the chips are made fresh and not store bought chips. The fried ice cream is a delicious dessert, pretty big so you can share it, I prefer not to Lol. Customer service is great! Surely a restaurant you can go to have a nice sit down meal with friends and family, or a romantic dinner. Personally I don't mind going alone and having a meal at the bar, can always count on the waiters or bartender to have a...

HIDDEN GEM: I've driven past this place consistently for 20 years and for whatever reason never considered it. Tonight we decide to branch out from our regular spots and what a delight. No wait, amazing service, food was even better! Cadillac margaritas were great, and the enchiladas were incredible. No complaints at all, we'll be back soon. Our other Sparks Mexican spots unfortunately don't hold a candle to this place. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a great meal here, can't go wrong!

The restaurant is really cool. Family owned and operated. I'm all about that, especially since the staff was so nice.. OK, so go here for the good service. This place has large portions and the food is alright. I didn't like it, it was much too 'smothered' and heavy. However, if you want alot of heavy food, I would recommend this place. Next time I go back, I might try and ask for less sour cream, guac, etc.
