Unmitigated disaster. Last Saturday my wife and I were seated at the bar and ordered dinner and a happy hour appetizer. After over 45 minutes, I went to the front desk and asked where our order was. 10 minutes later I asked the only waitress in the bar area where our food was. Despite telling her we had been waiting for an hour she was unimpressed and said said that her customers had been doing the same. 5 minutes after this, we started to leave when our dinners were unceremoniously placed in front of us by someone who simply set them down and left. No eye contact, no explanation, no apology, no attempt to see if we needed condiments, no silverware, no napkins, and no heat. Both meals were stone cold and the appetizer was not delivered for another 5 minutes. Again, not one attempt to communicate with us in any way what so ever.
During this time, the gentleman on our left had also waited over an hour to get a bowl of cold soup again, without silverware or a napkin. The couple to our right never did get their dinner orders by the time we left and, all these folks ordered before we did! Fortunately, when I went to get my utensils from their storage area, I picked up some for them; just in case their meals should arrive sometime before the next ice age. During this entire time all of us watched as a lot of other customers who were in line for seating, were, in fact, seated, fed, and leaving.
When we finally left, we had never spoken with a single person who asked us anything about our meal, needs, etc. and I simply signed the bill to my room and we left hungrier than when we arrived. As I said above, an unmitigated disaster. The only bright spot is that it was an anniversary/birthday celebration so next year, we'll have something...
Read moreHad a reservation. Arrived and there was no one at the hostess stand. Waited 15mins while ataff walked right passed me. Got seat, ask the waiter about cocktails since there is none on the menu. She saod she didnt know any cocktails, she'd have to ask the bartender. Nevermind. Placed my order. Took 15 mins to bring us waters but ok Ordered the corn and crab bisque which came out luke warm not hot at all. Flavorless. The crab was tasteless. My husband ordered the gumbo. Which we realized was served with no rice. When we questioned about the rice they said they were all out. So why didnt you tell us before we ordered. She didnt know. Ok. The waitress didnt come back often to check on us. I ordered fisherman combo, again food was luke warm not hot. Fish tastless, oyesters flavorless. Shrimp, just shrimp. Its like they dont season the food at all. The only thing was good was the bread, which i ordered some and it came AFTER i finished my meal. My husband enjoyed oyester on the half shells. The waiter never cleared our apetizer plates as we ate our main meal. Other than that the food was horrible and the...
Read moreMy family used to go to the Oyster bar often when we lived in town. I brought my family to Tahoe for vacation and I suggested we eat at the Oyster bar. It was a Saturday night and the hotel was extremely busy, but the oyster bar was empty. I remember that this place was always packed and busy. That should have been our first clue that things have changed. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and it had a bunch of smaller shrimp and nothing like the jumbo shrimp I remember. My son had the lobster bisque which was way too thick and mostly bland, but with a nice amount of lobster. I had the signature pan roast which was delicious, but had a small amount of seafood. We also got fish and chips which was absolutely terrible. It has lots of breading and not a nice piece of fish. I told both our waitress and the manager and they apologized, but should have removed that item from our bill since it was almost inedible. Our waitress, Virginia, was very nice and provided excellent service. Overall we were disappointed and won't be going back...
