Absolute UGH! What a particular shame this visit was. This was not the first time we stayed at this hotel but it will be the last. We used to love this hotel/casino, attending the BBQ festival and holiday times, it's gone down the drain. We made it through 4 days, barely.||We stayed in the casino tower on the 28th floor and you can still hear the freeway noise as if you were on the middle of it, ear plugs are necessary. The elevators are all vandalized (scratched in on the doors), the garage doors (all levels) to the skyway are not ADA meaning if you are in a wheelchair, you will be struggling with opening these doors. ||The first night we checked in they shut off the water with no notice- seriously? No toilet, no washing your hands and no shower. Returned after dinner and playing and not able to take a shower. Called down thinking this was a glitch but nope, water turned off till (they said) 3am. I waited until 3:37am, since I always take a shower before heading to bed and still no water. So disappointing. ||That morning, while taking a shower, the tub nearly overflowed, that is more than 12 inches... Noticed strong odor of sweat socks in the room that first night , reported it and they said they would send someone to look into the air-conditioning (probably dirty filters) and a plumber for the shower. So began our second day. We also went down to the front desk to get assurances that the water would not be turned off that night. I spoke to a manager, Kimberly (who could honestly give two figs-and you know I want to say something else), and she assured me that she would call me before 5pm that night to let me know if we had to alter our plans in order to make sure we were able to take a shower that night before we went to sleep. Gave her my room number three times. Came back and no messages from the front desk. I let the phone ring for minutes at the front desk and no one answered. I called housekeeping and they said that the water would remain on. Brother, I could not believe how awful this hotel was run. ||On our third day before we left for the day, we called housekeeping to make sure our room would be cleaned and returned from a long day at Lake Tahoe to a dirty room, no towels, bed not made, trash overflowing. I had, up to this point, felt like housekeeping was the best dept at this hotel. They, at least, were pleasant and accomodating.||The worse thing that happened on this trip, happened this night/morning. At 3:43 am, a woman began screaming profanities in the hallway. She was screaming and screeching she would "kill him". I called down to the front desk and she relayed me to security. I could not believe this riot of absolute crap we had to put up with at this awful place. The yelling died down. I was frustrated and so incredibly tired, able to fall back to sleep and then at 4:18am, she was back, screaming "heartbreaker!" and threatening to kill him again. Honestly, as I am writing this, I want to laugh with sadness and a feeling of increduality at this comedy of crap. I called back to the front desk who informed me that security knows who she is and had come up before, but they will come back after rounds. My head nearly popped off. I was so done with this f-ing place. What a terrible joke. I thought about calling the police but kinda gave up at that point. If I heard gunshots, I'd call...||We both are gamblers but refused to gamble here and it would've been so convenient to do so. But we choose to use our money to vote against this place.||WIth tourism at casino hotels what it is-Vegas is this side of a ghost town, you would think that guests would be treated well, their concerns attended to and things spruced up to try and make an effort. Not here.||Whatever you do, avoid this place like the plague unless you wish to have drunks screaming in the hallway in the middle of the night, wish to bathe in filthy water or not shower at all and the worse hotel service you've ever...
Read moreI am officially downgrading my review from four stars to one today. I feel like anything more than that is just not true. Where should I begin. So when I checked into the room they asked me for a deposit that will be released the very exact moment that I check out of this room. What they don't tell you is that they're going to submit the paperwork to the banks and in no way shape or form on any part of the bill are they going to mention the deposit that you placed in order to get the room. What they will give you is a bill after they finalize out their portion, that shows a zero balance. Not a single person that you contact is willing or is able to go above and beyond their outlined job title in order to keep the customer happy. They do not include the actual deposit amount in their invoice so that when you're looking at the bill you can see that a deposit was taken and then released back to the customer. It seems that being a customer for over 30 years holds no weight. Not to mention that if you need any help from security like if somebody were to break into your room without you knowing, they claim to have no ability to share said information with you in regards to who was in your room and or how long they were there. In order to obtain that information you are required to file a police report. In some situations I can understand but if I'm simply just trying to find out how long somebody spent in my room when I did not authorize them to be there they can't tell me that it was 4 hours which would indicate that I would need to fill out a police report. However I am safe in assuming that nobody spent 4 hours in my room without me being there because there was no air and I'm pretty sure that it would absolutely keep anybody from being able to stay in my room for that length of time as I know it did me. The shower had hardly any water pressure at all on the hot side. It was a mere drizzle and I was lucky to even get the shower head to stay on and the slightest fluctuation in the water made it drop down to the faucet immediately. The ice machine in the hallway was leaking making the tile very slippery and I'm surprised that nobody has tried to sue them yet for a fall. The rooms are very noisy and as I mentioned there's no air so you have to leave the window open at night just to cool the room down and in which case you are forced to hear the traffic scream past you very loudly all night long just to be cool in your room. On the final day of my stay I upgraded to a jacuzzi suite and even that room was still dirty when I got there. There were some kind of stains on the floor behind the main door and in the jacuzzi there was somebody else's hair. I will say though the shower head in the jacuzzi room was fantastic the pressure was amazing and the nozzles pointed down at you rather than being so plugged with calcium and build up that they are going every direction except towards you. I had done a review previous to this and I have since changed it because I can see that the quality of this hotel is rapidly declining and it's very sad to see because it is one of the last casinos that Sparks Nevada actually has. The history on this casino is long gone and it seems that Mr Asquaga left his legacy in the wrong person's hands. It used to be the place to be, but it's rapidly becoming the place to flee. The reward system is hardly a reward as it's far too difficult to accumulate points and the points that you get tend to not equal out to be very much. The level of care and desire to create a happy atmosphere or to even provide customer service is severely lacking. So much so that you can't even count on having a housekeeper coming to your room and tidy up without requesting her to come in. Oh yes one last thing I failed to mention that if you want coffee in the morning it will cost you $10 to receive a coffee pot with a couple pods of coffee. Once those two pods are gone it's another $8...
Read moreI am writing this review as an equal criticism of Hopper and The Nugget hotel/casino in Reno, NV. Last weekend my daughter and I were traveling and decided to stop at Reno to sleep before finishing our trip home to Boise.
I searched on Hopper and it came back showing a room for $36.13. It is important to point out here that this price was stated as the room, taxes and FEES. I booked the room and it was charged through the Hopper app. I received my confirmation email and again in that email it showed “Price Details” with a trip total of $36.16. As noted above, it was stated as room, taxes and FEES.
When I arrived to check in, it was around 9PM and we were tired from a 6 hour drive to arrive there. I went in to the front desk and was told that I was going to be charged an additional $53.35 “service and resort” fee. As you can imagine I was irate, but we had been traveling all day so I paid and we stayed the night leaving in the morning to complete our trip. Obviously, we utilized nothing of the supposed “resort fee” items as all we did was sleep and leave.
After this I went back and reviewed things. On the initial Hopper search there is nothing about this fee. All it shows is the $36.13 room, taxes and FEES. Clicking through this to the reservation page it again only shows a price of $33 room, taxes and FEES (looking at a different date now so the price is slightly different). There is nothing on that entire page about other fees. The only way to find them is to scroll to the bottom of the page past ads for “more great deals” and the review section then click to open an “important information” bullet. Then you have to scroll the small print past separate instructions and policies sections to find a fees section that has info about check in times, deposit, crib, rollaway and does mention a resort fee of $29.73 and a service fee (for what I have no idea) of 4.95. This is ~$19 less than what I was charged by the hotel. When I looked in my confirmation email I did find mention of it in a small print section that mentioned things like check in/out, crib and rollaway bed. Still in this email under “Booking Info” it showed room, taxes and FEES trip total of $36.13.
So as described above one or both of these entities practices business like a snake. There can be no justification for the “resort and service” fee charges when there are multiple places that say “Trip Total” $36.16 with the statement that it includes room, taxes and FEES. One or both are obviously trying to hide those fees so they pop up at check in and they get you to pay them rather than find another place. I will never do business with Hopper or The Nugget again.
The reservation was done over my phone since we were traveling so if the information is presented differently on a computer, I cannot...
