I personally watched an employee pick up what turned out to be my cooked burger patties off the grill with his bare hands. Then I watched him wipe his hands on a wet bar towel, pat down the raw patties on the grill, wipe his hands on the same towel, and then pick up several more cooked patties with his bare hands. I was hoping that wasn't my burger, but after paying, that's exactly the plate they tried to give me. I was a little shocked at almost $30 for a burger and fries, but it was the bare hands on cooked food and raw food with only a wipe off on a towel and excessive rudeness that did it for me. When I said I wasn't going to eat that burger because of what I'd witnessed, the wait staff was rude and told they don't wear gloves and that she didn't believe me. Then she tried to make it better by saying he "washed" his hands, when clearly he did not; I was steady watching him, hoping that he did because I did not want to complain. When I said I never saw him wash his hands (because how could he), she then said I was just complaining because of the price. I had already paid at that point, the price wasn't the issue. Their unsanitary practices and rude behavior was the issue. She instructed the cashier to refund my card "and get her outta here", all the while saying that I was "just saying that because of the price". I told her to look at the camera and she'd see for herself, but she continued to say I was lying. While I was leaving, she proceeded to follow me outside, telling me that "they aren't hurting for business" and the only reason I complained was because of the price. The price was a bit much, but not at all the problem. Good food usually comes with a good price, so that was not at all the issue after the initial shock. The food was basic and super greasy the first time we went, so I don't know if it would have been better this time, but I was willing to give it another try. What I do know is that my food wasn't clean, and neither are the staff and their cooking practices. Plus they're ridiculously rude. Zero outta ten,...
Read moreThis place has potential. The atmosphere was warm and loud and seemed friendly. But after trying to come here for years after having heard and read the rave reviews, I expected more.
First, ordering at the counter we were met by an unsmiling woman (I can only guess that she was not having a great day at all). She took our order with terse one word responses. Then the guy making the fries was very obviously more interested in the Clemson game on the TV than what he was supposed to be doing. The fries were soggy, floppy, under-cooked, and unsalted (using fresh potatoes is only great if you fry them (in oil hot enough that they don't soak up a ton of grease), shake them, and then fry them again). Then we got our burger and it, too, was under-salted on a bun that was, shall we say, more than a day old... with no mayo... and only a small to-go cup of ketchup.
Well, maybe the chili on the chili cheese fries can help them: nope. It didn't taste like anything. And I know I don't have COVID! The only redeeming factor of the meal was the ranch dressing. It had to do as a substitute for salt. To say we were disappointed is an...
Read moreWhen in Spartanburg from Woodruff, this is my Go-To burger joint. I sit at the bar and watch them cook my meal. I am stuck on the Chili Cheese burger. With home style fresh fries. Definitely a 10 outta 10. But I see so much other good food being prepared, that I have got to try something different next time. Maybe dine in for lunch then take me just a CCB home for supper. It’s about 20 or a little over from my home. But for good food like this , I don’t mind a 40 round trip. Oh and don’t let the outside of the building fool you. It looks like a old mill house converted into a bar and grill. But inside everything in modern and clean. Check there open hours before you go. A place this good works when they want to. You will just need to check their open time schedule. They serve beer but there is always a nice crowd in there from business men and women to families with children. The parking lot is usually packed but they have the room and a large staff to get you in and out. Very professionally run business. Chef Salad is on my list to try next. I seen one and it looked very...
