Shane's Rib Shack — Restaurant in Spartanburg

Update 5/4/24... It's been 2 years since my review of Shane's Chicken Shack w/sauces. Before I begin, let me say that the staff are friendly, we ordered with curbside delivery. Any issues fall on the lack of caring with ownership and if you don't know, you just don't know! Rebrand it please! I'm upset with myself on a nice cool Saturday for mistakenly trying them again. Forgetting and trying to support Spartanburg businesses I spent well over $100 to pretty much sample their menu. My review 2 years ago was spot on and it STILL is the same. What can I say about Shane's ribs...My lazy A should have fired up my smoker, at least I would have been more satisfied and saved money. The ribs are parboiled/tasteless unless you smother them with the sauces. They're tender because of the parboil, but then you lose any kind of flavor other than the pork taste that lingers. Shane, I think you and anyone else that wants to know what next level ribs taste like should go to MCCOY'S BBQ in Lymon,SC on Rt.29...The half a chicken I got was okay, McCoy's chicken is worth remembering! The pulled pork was just okay, edible, but nothing special other than the fat in it. The sides, what can I say about the sides...The FRENCH FRIES was the best of their sides and shame I didn't get more of em with my expensive meal. The fried Okra was meh and I asked to fry them hard, which they didn't do because, they taste better, but alas...No taste! They had Texas toast or rolls and I opted for rolls, but guess what? Hamburger buns are their rolls! I pretty much threw away a whole bag of hamburger buns you get at Food Lion. If you run a food business and don't have what you advertise, take it off the menu. That's a little business advice, but NOBODY'S listening because they probably make enough off the locals with no taste buds to keep the doors open. I just had a fork of their potato salad and it seemed okay, but at that point I was so food pissed that I dismissed it. My grandson of 4 years old had Chicken tenders & fries and when he doesn't eat tenders, something is wrong. My wife failed me because we were NEVER to go back there. From now on my hundreds of dollars are going to McCoy's BBQ and their Smoked Mac & Cheese is to die for! You're goin in the ground Shane, never to be exhumed! Old 2 year review! Shane's Sauce Shack should be the name. Just don't get the extra sauce that's un named...argh! The ribs are nothing special and anyone could make better backyard ribs. Spent over $50 and even tipped $7. Shane, your food for pickup has made me stop tipping. Anyplace else I'll try first before I even think about...

Service was HORRIBLE. Can’t tell ya how the food was. Didn’t get it. This was our FIRST time at Shane’s. We ordered a boneless wing basket and a cowboy burger with fries and a drink. We were told a total of $20 and some change. The girl yells adult burger to the kitchen. We fixed our drinks, got condiments and sit down and WAIT. About 5-8 minutes they call out name and bring the wing basket (no dipping sauce, none offered), no burger. So we wait, munch on fries and WAIT. 20 minutes later a girl asks the other girl if the burger was hers and she said no, I over hear and say no we are still waiting on the cowboy burger and fries. Girl goes back and forth with the result being they made a mistake and made it seem like it was our fault they didn’t ring it up properly. The manager never came out to speak to us, no apology. We left without getting our whole order. In the restaurant business we say it’s cheaper and easier to keep a customer than it is to get new ones.. One customer tells at least 3 people about bad experiences and those 3 tell other people. I’ve been in the restaurant business for over 35 years and this was and is just bad management. There were only 3 other customers in the restaurant at 130. The girls were on their phones not even noticing a customer standing there. A manager should have handled this situation. Less than a week later and they blocked me on Facebook because they wouldn't explain to me why there was a bone I bit into in my pulled pork.........

Man I'm typing this as I eat... and I am NOT HAPPY at all. My wife just had our daughter and this is the first time we've had a little extra money to go and eat out and I feel like I wasted $20.... she ordered a half chicken plate and she couldn't even eat the chicken it was so dry. . I don't understand how someone is not noticing this. I could NOT swallow a bite of chicken without a drink. .. waited 10 minutes for this .. as a loving husband and caring father this upsets me to no end that we spent money on a new place and she's not happy with her good because it's so dry she can't eat it... the only moisture that chicken has is when you take a drink to swallow it. I would equate it with trying to swallow a spoon of cinnamon.... we take our few times we eat out very special because we don't live extravagant lifestyles, so when we get food that is no better than what they give out in jail we were kind of upset. . Can't say I'd be willing to come back and spend anymore money here... I'm from Texas so I know good BBQ when I see it and the pulled pork was sub par for the price.. I can go to cookout and get a BBQ sandwich that IS great for $4.... just my very blunt and honest opinion about OUR...
