El Conquistador Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in South Carolina

So first I’d like to say that most of their food is really good and we usually love eating here. That being said I think we’ll be finding a new go to restaurant for Mexican cuisine for a few reasons. First, I’m not sure if the girl serving us served the wrong size for our queso, but she did say it was the large when asked. The queso itself is very basic and they charged $7.75 for a very shallow saucers worth that’s apparently supposed to be a large. So if you do go here I’d skip on the cheese sauce. The other prices are very fair to my knowledge though. Another thing is that when choosing a size for a daiquiri I asked my husband if he wanted any, he said he’d have a few sips, and so I asked our server what the sizes were like. She said I’d want the jumbo especially if he was going to have any, and so I said “Oh okay! But it’s not too big is it?” And she assured me it wasn’t that much. It was gigantic. Like a small fishbowl size. Enough for 3 people who are sharing (not just taking a few sips) the drink. The last thing and the worst bit for me was that I like to mix a little spicy salsa in my queso and I wanted to put some in the very little bit I was bringing home with me, but since my husband and I both like the spicy salsa instead of the plain (they give you two salsas with your chips when you sit like most places - one spicy and one plain) there wasn’t any left. When I asked for a tablespoon more to put in my to-go box, she insisted on it being an extra $1.25 if I wanted to have any more. What’s especially crazy about this is that they have a free salsa bar with tons of fancy salsas and toppings, but I wanted the default free salsa you get at the beginning of your visit and suddenly it’s an extra $1.25. Obviously $1.25 isn’t a lot of money, but the principle of it really rubbed me the wrong way. We’re always really polite, we organize and clean up after ourselves every time we go there leaving not even a crumb of the tables; we tip at least 25% always, (except when we order it to go and we still tip 15% for that), and we never mind when it’s busy and we have to wait a good while (like tonight actually). I feel like this server was just trying to get us to spend as much as possible with the daiquiri ordeal and being stingy about a tablespoons worth of regular salsa is crazy, especially when you have a free salsa bar of all the fancy stuff. Anyway, like I said the food is really good from what I’ve had and they are friendly. The idea of going back there after that experience just leaves a sour taste in my mouth now...

5🌟 We find this a bit odd Google considering we put a rating on here over a year ago or more since they opened... Used to be broncos ??? They changed management and now it is 10 times better... We have been here multiple times and never had any problems.. We Love the salsa bar they always have about 15 to 20 different kinds of sauces and dips and stuff you can try.. The waiters and waitresses are always excellent, pleasant and friendly.. The prices are fantastic.. Just can't say enough good about this place... ... We highly recommended it.. We would like to know what happened to our rating from over a year ago.. What happens to Google what do they just delete your rating or something ????? Because we have added probably 25 or 35 pictures of all the cool stuff we had here so don't know what happened to that rating or those pictures... BUT HIGHLY...

We walked in & I immediately felt unwelcome I will never come here ever again so if you're a POC please just DONT. The bald guy at the front entrance said nothing to us when we came in & looked confused as to why we were there but when he eventually did say something was rude & cold. The food was nasty the bean dip stink and was watery. The waitress wasn't knowledgeable of the menu at ALL had no clue what she was doing. Also they told us they didn't serve alcohol on Sundays but then we watched them take alcohol to 2 other tables who were MEXICAN. Never ever again horrible experience will stick to Papas and Beers where the food & service is amazing. Was gonna walk out after feeling unwelcome but husband was starving & had work soon so...
