Mustafa's Place offers a delightful and unique dining experience in Spencer, NC. Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior (formerly a gas station!), the friendly staff and delicious Turkish-American cuisine will have you wanting to return for more.
The atmosphere at Mustafa's Place is undeniably casual. But what it lacks in formality, it makes up for in warmth. The mosaic-topped tables add a touch of charm, and the friendly conversation with the staff made us feel right at home.
We opted for the lamb and chicken kebap platters, and both were excellent. The marinated meat was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying rice, Turkish salad, and even the fries were all fresh and flavorful. The portions were incredibly generous. We also tried the stuffed grape leaves and baklava, and both were delicious additions to our meal.
The two men working at the restaurant, who I believe included Mustafa himself, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They took the time to chat with us about their home country and made us feel like valued guests.

Read moreI need good middle eastern or Mediterranean food in my life. I have lived in many places where it was easily accessible. I just moved to Lexington and you're not gonna find food like that let alone Turkish food here. So Mustafa's is so wonderful to have nearby. They even have Turkish coffee which makes me so happy (and energetic !)
Food is fresh, service is stellar. This is an old gas station so they did the best they could with the atmosphere and it is very nice. This is mostly a takeout place but you can sit here at the unique dining arrangements. I deducted one star for the atmosphere not because it was bad, but there is room to make it even cooler since it is in such an interesting location. They could take the whole old gas station part of it and capitalize on it with outside seating with cultural music and...
Read moreAs a customer who does not live close to this restaurant, I wish it operated where I lived. To talk more about how the experience in terms of food and service, they are both excellent. They are all reasonably priced and, most importantly, high quality with a savoring taste. They come in significant portions, so do not expect to walk out hungry. Lastly, the service that was provided to me is one of the most engaging services that I have experienced. The chef himself went up to me and asked if I wanted any assistance several times without me even asking for assistance. I came at a calm hour, so do not expect this treatment during a busy hour. All and all, this is the best value for family restaurants that would like to experience the Turkish cuisine with a tint of household American...
