Strange/funky/little hot dog shop set up right off the main street. There is NO indoor seating. In fact? You don't go inside to order. The cook comes out to take your order. They do have four outdoor tables and chairs (patio furniture) for guests to use, and two of them have table umbrellas. We went in the late afternoon, and that side of the street is completely in the shade. The other option is to eat in your car. There is a handwritten menu board and hotdogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese and pimento cheese sandwiches are served. Prices are very reasonable. They serve Pepsi products. Our hotdogs were just... hotdogs. The chili had a sweet tang to it. I had mine with mustard, chili and onion. Other options were ketchup and relish. The owner/cook was a very nice guy who checked on us regularly and kept our drinks refilled. We went on a Wednesday and they closed at 4pm. Check their hours before you go. The seating is limited and there is only street parking. I believe there was a sign that said no restrooms. Overall, it was a nice change up to eat patio side with hot...
Read moreI arrived In Spencer along with my 2 year old grandson to ride the train and tour the transportation museum and we walked to Roger Dog's for a quick lunch before boarding the train. It was a hot day and the lady quickly offered us a shaded seat in the alley outside. She was most polite and took our order. I noticed that there was no indication of credit card acceptance on the front door and asked her if credit cards were accepted. She apologized but explained that only cash was accepted. I told her that I simply did not think to bring cash but that I would go to an ATM. To my amazement, she said "Don't worry about it. You can mail t back." We got our hot dogs and sodas and enjoyed lunch before the train ride. To my embarrassment, I just pulled the note with the address of the restaurant from my backpack. Our visit was approximately four weeks ago. I am mailing a check today along with my apologies. I can honestly say that the food was great but the hospitality was superb. All visitors to the Transportation Museum should eat at Roger Dog's. These people...
Read more12/09/2023 I was visiting and my bf suggested this place because it's apparently a local hot spot. We pulled up and he got out of car to order. The owner ran inside to get mask on and immediately told my bf he'd be with him in a minute as he proceeded to approach me instead. Totally disregarded my bf standing there patiently waiting with card out (that he watched get out of the car to order for us)... Then when bf told him he was with me, he sharply replied to him he doesn't take cads for payment. Lady owner came and took over asking what we wanted to drink and wasn't listening to what I said (several times) when I answered her everytime after the man tried to get our order in the car and almost everything we tried to order (in foot longs) was out but still on dry erase menu?! Took my cash but wearing masks and don't take card payments? Confusing. The food came out fast but the hotdogs were cheap brand. Not impressed really at all. Disrespectful and cheap taste. I expected better for a local hot spot, especially since the town Christmas festival was...
