Go for the food, not the drinks.
A couple friends and I went to The Bearded Ginger for dinner tonight. It was brighter than I expected, and a little chilly. But overall the atmosphere was fine (could use a little updating, but not a deal breaker).
The majority of the food was pretty good though.
We ordered their jalapeño poppers as an appetizer. They didn’t have a full order, just 3. So they gave us those 3 free of charge. Couldn’t complain about that. They were served with ranch and BBQ sauce.
My friends decided to order a sandwich each and then share, so they could try two sandwich offerings in a single visit (I thought that was genius).
They ordered the Turkey Bacon Melt and the BBQ Sammy with brisket. They were out of brisket though, so their second choice was the pulled pork. Both ordered tots as their side with ranch and tartar sauce. Their ranch was pretty good, but I was told that their tartar sauce was really good.
They both liked their sandwiches and both sandwiches were stuffed with meat.
I went with the BG Caesar salad. It had great flavor, but FAR too much dressing to be called a Caesar salad. Had I known it was going to be dressing heavy, I would’ve asked to have it on the side.
The sirloin, cooked medium, some may say medium-well (asked for medium rare) was pretty good. It was tender and seasoned well. Due to the heavy dressing I ate the salad and saved the steak for my salad tomorrow,...
Read moreThe Bearded Ginger was fantastic. Trying to find somewhere to eat dinner the online photos and other reviews had our interest so we dropped in and snagged a table. The mozzarella logs were a great start, the embodiment of a larger and better version of your standard mozzarella sticks appetizer you usually find at most restaurants.
Moving into dinner they were doing a prime rib special for 25$, which, after stealing a glance at someone else's table made that decision super easy as it looked amazing. The menu also featured a crunchwrap that both my wife and daughter got, pulled pork for one and brisket for the other. They both said they were amazing and having sampled them I also have to agree. The steak bites that another member of our party got were also very much liked. The last person got several wings to share, the traditional buffalo and mango habanero. The buffalo wings were a very solid flavored wing with a mild/medium heat that was well liked by most. The mago habanero sauce was a little hot for most of the table but I loved it since I like things on the spicy side. The prime rib was also fantastic, zero complaints.
Overall everyone had a great time with great food and we would definitely go back again. The beautiful presentation on the website, while it might not match the physical building itself, isn't lying and everything is as delicious as it looks. Loved this place so much I...
Read moreNot sure if they were having a very off night tonight or if this is normal for this place but our experience tonight truly sucked. When we walked in (2 of us) we were told to find a table. Luckily one was open so we sat right down. Not sure if the owners purposefully understaffed or what but pretty sure there was 1 server and 1 bartender for a Saturday night. As such, we didn't get asked about drinks until we had been there for 20 minutes. We did get menus quickly and ordered mozzarella logs, and bbq burnt ends as appetizers and ordered our entrees at the same time. They were out of brisket which was of course what I had come in for. We instead ordered a French dip and the corned beef crunchwrap. It looks 40 minutes for the appetizers to be delivered. After the appetizers were delivered we waited 40 more minutes before asking the bartender to check to see if they had started our food and to cancel it if not since we had been sitting there waiting for food for an hour and twenty minutes at that point. The bartender came back with the check and said they were just getting ready to start our food so she canceled the dip and crunchwrap and brought our tab. Management really needs to step up and not let their staff drown if it takes 80 minutes to get handheld food started. Whether it is the kitchen needing help or service staff needing help, this was asinine for your staff to be...
