Don’t order any kind of third-party order (Doordash, Ubereats, etc.) from here!!!!!!!!!!!! You know, I understand that corporations are extremely greedy and love their money but this was, wow. I worked in food service for years and I usually leave things like this alone because I understand the stress workers are under, but this was absolutely ridiculous. My boyfriend and I ordered UberEats from this restaurant and he accidentally sent it to his address instead of mine. He cancelled it within, ZERO exaggeration, 5 seconds, because he realized immediately after he clicked ‘place order.’ He ordered again to the right address, but UberEats is refusing to refund $20 because this store has auto-accept on for these apps, meaning even if you make a simple human mistake, they apparently will not refund you no matter what. AGAIN- this is even if you cancel the order within 5 seconds!!!! Apparently this is because the restaurant told them it was already made! Within those 5 seconds! Even though, when I called to confirm they were only making one order, the worker said “we saw the first one was cancelled so we’re only working on the second one.” WORD FOR WORD. Suddenly when it became apparent that UberEats wasn’t refunding us, the lady on the phone got EXTREMELY rude about it, started insisting that they did make the entire order and ‘threw it away’ (no you didn’t, if it wasn’t served, picked up, even made it off the line in that amount of time. Either y’all put it back on the line to reuse or one of the workers ate it. ALL restaurants do this, surprise!!!) and proceeded to even raise her voice at us saying that she has “30 orders right now and is too busy for this.” Y’all are really gonna have a heart attack over $20??????????? Your business is supposed to have parameters in place that include LOSS. That’s what a P&L (profit and loss) Report is. Y’all and Uber are GIANT corporations where I’m sure $20 doesn’t affect you. We are minimum wage workers who eat out once a paycheck because we can’t afford more than that. Do better, in this...
Read moreI was a little disappointed. The food overall had a really strong flavor, that I can only explain as like a chemicle. It wasn't terrible, just had this inexplicable, strong flavor of something synthetic, and I was really off putting. Disappointed to the point in which I was ready to leave me meal, maybe 1/4 into it, right up until the moment I had their fried rice. I have never eaten anything like it. Rice is generally just a filler, and I've never really cared for it. I eat it often, and with everything like eggs, but it would never be a focal point of a dish. Their fried rice was literally life changing, it was perfect. Everything else was a strong meh, 2/5, but their fried rice is something special. It was unbelievable, it's perfect.
Service was good, they seem like good people. I'm probably just being picky but whatver that flavor was, it permeated the entirety of the meal and I keep telling myself that they used some strong Chinese vinegar.
Wife is a mainlander, we live in Tokyo and I am just back in WA visiting family. We lived in HK for years before moving to Tokyo. So though I'm not an expert, and not some credible source on HK food, I've eaten this stuff for years, and I just don't know what that flavor was, but like the rose whine flavoring, it inundated the entirety of the dish and I hated it. Like someone sprayed my food with windex.
Still, rice was probably one of the most perfect things I've ever eaten, and these people deserve 5/5 just for their fried rice. I sincerly didn't know that rice could be so damn good. BBQ pork was very hard, dry and chewy; even my dogs had a problem eating it. Dim sum was actually not bad, pork bun was legit, fried pork was hard and chewey as well so I wouldn't recommend any meat if you are elderly with dental issues.
They were cool though, and I'd give them a second shot just because of world class rice. Def authentic Chinese, and not western Chinese. So I'm sure this will be...
Read moreThis is a local gem. We've been eating at this location since it opened, and prior to that, we ate frequently at the Division location. We've eaten in and ordered takeout from them for at least 12 or 13 years, probably longer, now that I think about it... I would say that their food is fresh, consistent, and reasonably priced, especially when you consider quantity as well. I raised 6 children, and take out had to be all of the things I mentioned above for us to become a repeat customer. As the kids have all grown up, and some moved away, I still happily order from them a couple to a few times a month, and we are very frequent customers of the Poke Express/Boba side also.
I have many dietary restrictions where I can only eat very bland foods, with no vegetables or fiber. They've always been able to adjust recipes to suit my boring needs or add some kick A$$ to my daughter's favorite dishes. I used to think she would burn her toungue off with the heat she enjoyed. 😅
They are wonderful, staff and owners. They are very busy, and if they don't have time to chat, understand that this is the nature of running a fresh, fast, food establishment. If we've ever had any issues, if brought to their attention, they have always made things right and with grace, not begrudgingly.
I will miss this place when I move away from WA. Hopefully, some of you will give them your business, grab some boba, and chat in...
