Great selection of food coupled with the owners' penchant for hospitality makes Otilia's a must try. I was lucky enough to get there before they sold out of their beef short ribs. (The owner, John, mentioned to me that they sell out all the time, and joked that there may or may not have been one or two fist fights over them.) Simply delicious, great flavors, and perfectly fatty, I can see why they sell out! My table and I tried many appetizers, cod fritters, sausage sampler platter, and garlic shrimp --just to name a few-- and each was absolutely delicious. Fatima, John's wife and gracious host of Otilia's , suggested to us that we try cerradura, a traditional portugese dessert made with heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk. This was-- trying to avoid cliches --TO DIE FOR!! I will be coming back here for years to come and will throughly enjoy bringing many friends to eat the gastronomically indulgent cuisine that doesn't kill one's pockets.

Read moreI was excited for Otilia's to open since I live right down the street and love Portuguese food. We visited twice, just to be sure we didn't like it. Maybe they needed some time to find their sweet spot. We visited again a couple of months later. Not only was the food still bland, their portion sizes had shrunk by half while their prices stayed the same. Cherry on the cake though: my review disappeared from their Facebook page. Sorry for having an opinion you don't like. I'll stick to driving 40 minutes to Bound Brook when I have a craving...
Read moreThis place was basically a step above a deli, The food was just ok for me, I had garlic shrimp for lunch, I expected better, it was just ok, prices were way to expensive, lunch for 2 people with no appetizers, no deserts, we had 2 coffees with our meal…they did provide us with a free small salad, and yet, the check was $73.28 before the tip, I don’t usually pay that much anywhere else, specially a real Portuguese restaurant down in Newark, $ 73.00 basically for 2 lunches and 2 coffees is outrageous expensive, I will never go back, and the food was just passable. The server was nice. I do not recommend this place, I should have realized it because there was no one else there eating lunch when we...
