I recently visited the new Cafe Rio location at 5235 South Fort Apache Rd since they just opened, and unfortunately, it was a bit of a mixed bag. While the food itself was great—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying—the service left a lot to be desired. The person on the prep line seemed untrained and lacked knowledge about the menu, which made the ordering process a bit frustrating. Additionally, the staff member appeared visibly unhappy and unwelcoming, which definitely impacted the overall experience. It’s important to note that this attitude should not be taken out on paying customers. If you’re considering giving this location a try, I’d recommend visiting one of the other established Cafe Rio branches, such as the ones on Sahara or Durango Drive. Those locations tend to offer better service, more attentive staff, and a more welcoming atmosphere.

Uhh… not sure who’s training these guys, but maybe skip ordering online. We got salads through DoorDash, and they included everything except the actual greens that make it, you know… a salad. Super weird. When we went back to fix it, they asked for the receipt and said we should’ve specified the greens when ordering online. Like, from any customer perspective, isn’t it just assumed? Because, again… it’s a SALAD. LMFAO.

I know this place is new but Jesus Christ. This is the second time we’ve been to this location and it’s nothing but headaches. The drive through people never get the orders correctly even after explaining MORE THAN 3 times over and over again the way we’d prefer our meals. So needless to say our meals are not correct. We also ordered chips and queso and there was LESS THAN HALF in the cup. Bruh.

The staff at this location needs customer service training. I visited this location yesterday, 9/27 around 3pm. There was no one in line (one guest was paying but that’s it). I waited over 10 minutes for someone to come by to take my order. Not one person even looked my way or addressed me. One gentleman comes by eventually and asks me what I’d like and I told him a tostada. He tells me they’re out of hard shells but he can make more if I don’t mind waiting a few minutes. At this point I’ve waited so long I say ok that’s fine. He walks away and a few minutes later another gentleman comes by and says “what do you want?” Certainly not the right way to address someone who has been waiting some time but.. ok? I tell him I want a tostada and I’m waiting on a hard shell that the other gentleman put to fry. He rolls his eyes. Finally the tostada is ready. I tell him what I want and then he asks me if I want cheese to which I say yes but yellow cheese, please. The yellow cheese container was empty. He asks me “why would you pick the yellow cheese when you see it’s empty?” Then he goes to get more in the back and Finishes up my tostada. There is another customer in the restaurant that got up to refill her drink and he says out loud in front of me “damn lady that’s your third time getting a drink”.

Completely unprofessional and certainly does not make me want to give my money to an establishment that hires people who thinks this way of their customers.

Don’t come to...

My boyfriend and I have been coming to this location since it’s opened, since we live over at EVO. We’ve probably been like 5-7 times in total and tonight was our final time coming.

I don’t know if there are multiple managers, but one of the managers is bad energy. He’s always looking over everyone’s shoulder and making them all nervous. Any time he’s working, the bowls and portions are terrible. I’m not a slob. I’m not asking for TONS of food or anything. But if I order double rice & NO beans, why are you scolding your employee for giving me two scoops of rice?? Instead of just jumping to accuse her for “giving me too much food”, maybe ASK her why I got two scoops? That’s just awkward. Also, I’ve been overcharged twice here for elotes on my bowl. One of the two times I was charged like, $4? Tonight my rice (double rice, no beans) was super undercooked and hard. Most of the employees seem cool. But the manager I’m talking about just has a bad attitude and I feel like he makes all of these young teens nervous or something. Since I can’t determine his schedule and only come in when he’s NOT THERE BREATHING DOWN EVERYONES NECK, I’m literally just going to go to the location on Durango. Lol we tried.

Please worry about making sure the meat is fresh (steak/grilled chicken/ect) and rice is cooked properly instead of worrying about how you can skimp every customer that comes...

Ordered Catering from Cafe Rio on November 9th at the Durango and Warm Springs location and again on December 13th at the Ft, Apache and Hacienda Location. Both times I ordered 2 days in advance of the parties and specified a time for pick up. On November 9th it was 4PM and on December 13th it was 6 PM. Both times we had to wait over 30 minutes for our order after the designated time. Both times the staff seemed surprised that we had a catering order and both times the management was rude. it was very clear that they were making the order BOTH Times after we arrived for pick up. Mind you both of these orders were prepaid. Neither manager even acknowledged that their store was in the wrong, neither apologized for the delay and in fact the manager at Ft. Apache and Hacienda did not even acknowledge that I waited until I requested (multiple times) to speak with him directly. No matter how good their food tastes being treated that way multiple times by Multiple stores means I will go elsewhere for my catering and...
