. I ordered the variety plate. Two types of Central American sausages and a marinated grilled steak. Along with two rags, black beans, and plantains. I got a side of avocado as well. My Mexican style coffee was smoother and rich. The household management ordered waffles with eggs and bacon. The eggs were defiantly free range. We don’t really care but the flavor was excellent.
The two types of sausages were nicely seasoned. There was some spiciness to them. The steak marinade was top notch. The variety sampler would feed a teenaged quite well.
The restaurant is well maintained and very clean. My mother and aunt would approve. We were there on a weekday lunch/ breakfast so we were served quickly and professionally. The waitstaff said it it can get pretty busy on weekends. We talked to several other customers. All were return customers.
The menu had three basic versions. Standard ‘American Food’ with potatoes. There was a Mexican Food page. Finally a Central American page with such things a Guatemalan food such as mentioned with plantains
The drinks had the usual San Diego American soda, Mexican Cokes, plus Jamiaca and etc. There looks to be a decent selection of beers. The dinner entrees look appealing too. O was really hungry so I focused on the food.
The people are friendly with plenty of parking etc.
I plan to return. They have Menudo, Burris, snd Pozole on the menu so I gotta try the other pages. The American page will satisfy the Wisconsin die hards.
I didn’t see any pescado but u was so hungry I was just looking forward to my food. I’m not a frijoles negro fan so I’m gonna see about substituting pinto. Look I was kind of raised on it. There’s plenty of interesting variety all over the menu and it’s just over the hill from me.
I am going to add this place to my visitors list. I have a few places with outside eating and pure tourist comida Mexicana. Adding Central America to the cultural tour of San Diego will be really good. Having visitors from the east coast and Midwest explore all of the food options along with the other culture...
Read moreThe food is sooo freaking good here. The man, the myth the legend Chiroy himself is always here- Ready to take your order with a smile and his family and the workers in this restaurant are just so unbelievably amazing.
There’s Mexican and Guatemalan dishes, As well as your standard American breakfast And American dishes. There’s also pasta, salads, soups, Appetizers, It’s all soooo good.
My personal favorite is the chicken tortilla soup, And the American breakfast with the waffle and sausage and bacon/eggs. If you order chips as an appetizer, they’re homemade, And the salsas are homemade too
It’s clean inside and there’s plenty of seating room, including a lot of booths.
I would honestly say there’s no cons about this place at all- Except there’s no AC I think. But that doesn’t bother me because they keep the window open For fresh air. I’ve always had a good time eating here.
The food is honestly probably the best in Spring Valley. It’s really hard to find a restaurant that’s local here where the food is really good and delicious- And this place is not disappoint. Since discovering this place, I’ve been eating here every weekend.
It all started with a craving for chicken tortilla soup- The nearest place that sells it is Islands in Eastlake. That’s a semi far Drive for chicken tortilla soup so I’m very thankful that Chiroys was open, close, And this is the best chicken tortilla soup I’ve ever eaten.
Their food is the best because everything is home-cooked with love. So freaking yummy and I recommend...
Read moreI had a nice breakfast here at Chiroy's Cafe new location in Spring Valley or Casa de Oro in Campo Road. I had the trio of breakfast tacos plate. You get to choose your protein for your tacos and sides for $12.99 plus tax, and $3.49 plus tax for regular coffee. I had hash browns and black beans on the side.
The breakfast tacos came generously filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, and hash browns. I wish I would of known that the tacos came with hash browns in them, because I would not of had them as my side. At any rate, the tacos were tasty. The eggs were well scrambled and the bacon was really good. The hash browns were good but they could of been crispier. They need that nice crunch, the ones in the tacos and on the plate.
Also, I thought the breakfast tacos would of been better served if they chopped the bacon up and mixed it with the eggs, and garnish the tacos with either some chopped green onions or a touch of pico de gallo. Just a touch.
The black beans were of the refried variety. I thought they were whole when I ordered them, but nevertheless, they were tasty and creamy.
Service was very pleasant. You order at the table, but then pay at the counter. There's plenty of inside seating. There's also a bar, where they serve eats,...
