They're always so busy and packed. When we came, they were hosting a mini artist fair in the seating area which was really cool.
This place is consistently good in terms of snacks and drinks. Their regular levels of ice & sweetness for drinks are spot on so if you're new or in doubt, go with the regular or ask them for their recommendations.
Special Popcorn Pork Belly ($9.95): Woah, this was really interesting and different. It's deep fried pork belly like popcorn chicken but they put whole peppercorn in the batter so you get a Szechuan taste. We're not a fan of the peppercorn seed since it can numb of tongue/mouth but they somehow made it mild enough for us to eat with no side effects. Mind-blowing! I think it's a must try once but not something I would get again and again like popcorn chicken.
Pink Drink By Strawberry Coconut Milk ($6.75): I forgot to adjust the sweetness/ice levels but 100% was actually perfect. It wasn't overly sweet or icy for a blended drink. The drink doesn't look very aesthetic because of all the particles floating and separation but it was really good. It was refreshing and something I wish smoothies would taste like. It wasn't too thick, heavy, or creamy. The cup is pretty big and they didn't load up on ice so I was able to share it with my husband. The crystal boba were plump and addicting to chew on. These are way better than the ones I get in California.
Popcorn Chicken ($8.95): The best popcorn chicken that we found in Vegas so far. They make it fresh, the batter to chicken ratio is perfect, the chicken is tasty & not dry. The red pepper they provided on the side gave the right level of spiciness that sneaks up on you but the heat doesn't linger. If they add fried basil, this would be perfect.
Cactus Sunrise ($6.75) + Lychee Jelly ($0.50) + Green Tea Jelly ($0.50): This is a mango green tea dragonfruit drink. I don't know why my husband got two toppings but I wouldn't recommend it. There was too much jelly in the drink so the ratio of liquid to toppings was off. The green tea jelly had a super subtle flavor which I didn't taste until after we finished all the lychee jelly. He got 100% sweet which wasn't bad but I think he could have gotten away with 70% sweet since the lychee jelly provided extra sweetness. The drink was refreshing & delicious nevertheless.
Matcha Swirl ($6.55) + Boba ($0.50): This is a matcha smoothie, creme brulee, crushed oreos. I asked for less sweet but the cashier said it might be bitter so I went with 100% sweetness and did not regret it. The boba was the perfect texture, the creme brulee wasn't heavy, and the crushed oreos added a nice crunch. All of the flavors really complimented each other so I really enjoyed my drink. The only mistake I made was drinking this at night so the caffeine from the matcha kept me up.
Passionfruit & Kumquat Green Tea ($5.55) + Green Tea Jelly ($0.50): This was the promotional drink we chose. The tea was refreshing but fairly standard compared to other boba shops. The green tea jelly had a subtle flavor, but the large chunks made it difficult to drink through the straw.
Mango Pomelo with Crystal Boba ($6.75): This drink is now one of my top 5 drinks from Pink Cactus Tea! The crystal boba complemented the drink perfectly, adding a nice chewy texture. It was flavorful, with a good amount of real fruit. However, I'd suggest cutting the pomelo into smaller pieces for easier sipping.
Dirty Taro Milk with Crystal Boba: I really liked this one. It tasted like real taro and not the powder kind, which I appreciated. The color wasn't the vibrant purple you usually see, but the flavor was good. I couldn't really taste the coffee, but I liked the little taro bits and the crystal boba.
Strawberry Matcha Latte: I didn't like this drink. The flavors just weren't good, and I've had better versions at...
Read moreFORGET STARBUCKS & DUTCH BROS!!! UME TEA SHOP is our (Emergency department's-nights) preferred choice when we regularly and consistently group order for all of our drinking needs!!
Our goal is trying a new drink flavor or combination w/ea.new order which, btw, this tea shop NEVER DISAPOINTS!!
For the most part they pay attention to detail when it comes to our large group orders. In the comments section we put our name down so that these guys label that item w/our names which we find makes receiving drink order nearly error proof and they always get our large orders correct. Never duplicates, never forgetting any items- I cannot believe the quality control for accuracy here! Imagine that! a tea shop who actually cares and prides themselves on quality and customer service! ALL drinks are delicious (reasonably priced too)!
They make a bomb grapefruit tea that is presented with orange slices inside..... *I disliked grapefruit for several years and recently fell in love with their version of a grapefruit tea drink!
This was ordered with the crystal boba, light ice, 25% sweet, & cheese topping! Can I just say "Ahhhmazing!!!!!!!
The food snacks are perfectly portioned for just the right type of survival snacking we need between patient care when we are all needing someting to tie us over until we can take a real break if we even get one!!
Our top picks would be; the elote which is the mexican cheese corn, and the pork belly strips.
Just a word of caution- be careful eating the pork belly strip snacks only due to the preparation of this snack item. They make this with large peppercorns that are fried inside the coating so eat cautiously because it leaves a very pudgent pack to your tastebuds that we find unpleasant so I recommend removing these peppercorns as you see them prior to consumption.
*5 stars given for making me fall in love with the taste of...
Read moreBeautiful interior, perfect for photos and to chill. There are games as well. I think my biggest takeaway was they have a stamp card where only 5 drinks gives a redeemable, free drink. Most places that use this incentive keep the number of stamps to 10 before redemption. Prices here aren't even expensive either, so you get great quantity.
I saw the creme brulee options and was intrigued. I asked if there was any way to add the creme brulee to a regular milk tea so I could compare to my previous experiences and they happily obliged. It was a great dessert option as the caramelized sugar melted with the milk tea just like I expected Boba was chewy, not the best I've had but still really good.
I think the owner(? maybe just a fantastic employee) was extremely accommodating and supportive. She would provide physical menus to all customers who stared at the screen so we could all see more clearly. She made a mistake on my drink order through the receipt, but acknowledged it immediately without me mentioning it. With that in mind, she did not tell me I had to make up for any errors through a different drink or pay more. I've definitely run into some places where they just scam me like that which is bothersome.
They ran out of watermelon unfortunately. Friend had to switch up his order and the passionfruit orange was too sweet even at 70% sugar. It was like a refreshing lemonade with additional sugar. I would reduce the sugar more on the fruit teas if you're looking for a light refreshment. Pineapple sago wasn't the best but the strawberry was better. Not sure if it was just me, but I recommend the milk...
