There are several options for outdoor dining in York, and if you are looking to have a few drinks and an appetizer, it's fine. However, there are a lot of other issues to consider. Want to say first that our waitress and the wait staff were great, but every item took a long time to come out (25 minutes for the Thai Chili Shrimp).

Atmosphere: Sat on the patio on a breezy Friday evening with the backdrop of the Heritage Hills Golf Course. Shortly after arriving one by one, golf carts pulled up right by the tables with several people smoking and drinking in the carts. Cigarette smoke makes everything taste better.

Shareables: The shareables (which said they serve 3-4 people) were good but smaller than expected for the price. The Thai Chili Shrimp appetizer had 5 shrimp with decent flavor but popped right out of their breading when trying to cut them to share. The chicken taco appetizer was good with well spiced chicken and fresh ingredients. They were the best thing we had.

Soups: The French onion soup was below average and was excessively salty. The asparagus and crab curry bisque had hardly any crab, and the only evidence of asparagus was green specks. The curry water, however, had a very good flavor.

Salads: The cobb salad was traditional and fine with all of the expected ingredients. The Marty's Antipasto salad looked like someone took an Italian deli sub and dumped it on some lettuce. Not appetizing to look at, and if you like eating a double meat italian sub with a knife and fork, it was ok.

Pizza: It is really hard to find great pizza in York, but it is easy to go to a place called Pizza Loft and find bad pizza. The crust was dry, flavorless, very chewy, and had obviously been frozen. The sauce tasted like generic store brand pizza sauce, and the cheese tasted like plastic. If you loved cafeteria pizza as a kid in school, this will bring you back.

One final thing is that they have a massive selection of beer, and the specialty cocktails were very good. If you want to meet up with friends for drinks or have a few after golfing, it is really great for that. If you want a great meal out,...

Been going to this establishment since 2010 and was always my top pub to go to. Our last experience on the date of 2/20/2016 was as follows.

We entered unknowingly into the resturant section on our evening off from the kids. The lighting was horrifically bright its like your sitting in a stadium. The drinks which were always nice before were terrible by a pathetic standard. A mojito is not rum and limes and maybe if there was rum in it. My wifes rum runner was really bad watered down grapefruit juice maybe.

The food was sortof decent but not as it was.

The atmosphere was a stadium faimily resturant with liquor service?

So we quickly went to the bar area. And that went as follows.

No bs a guy had a child about the age of 3-6 months sitting on the bar. The new renovations took the bar down to a small room. There was a very pugnet odor of urine like hamster cage or rats. We were offered table service at the bar and assuming the mixed drinks would be no better we ordered 2 beers. 10min later no beers and the urine smell with kids running in playing around the bar was just too much. And we left.

You could not make this up it would have been the worst date night me and my wife ever had if it was not soo bad that it was kindof funny.

In conclusion if you feel comfortable at a bar that smells of urine, has kids playing around in the bar not the resturant the bar itself. Infants actually sat and being held on the bar where you would place a drink. And probably the worst service ever well here you go. I dont understand why they have a liquor license. I dont take my kids to a bar with me its unacceptable, if they want a family resturant make one if not dont. Or they need to fire the designer of the builings lower level. And should take measures to seperate the family activities they have from the drinking establishment, just to start. O yea they dont serve rolls in the resturant...

I try to stick with positive reviews but, had to share how rude this place was. Group of about 10 of us went here after work on a Friday, we had been there in the past and they have a beautiful outdoor area. We made reservations and when we got there were told we had to sit inside due to a band playing that evening. So we went inside and ordered drinks and food. Food is ok. Ignored the fact that they served us martinis, bourbon, wine in cheap plastic throw away cups. Then when we were finished eating and still having drinks the manager, Jerry, comes over and tells us we have to pay a $15 cover each or leave because of the band. We had spent over $400 on food and drinks and would have continued to buy drinks there but left because he was so rude. They were not packed or looking for tables to seat people. The tables outside we weren’t allowed to sit at were empty. We watched him turn guys who were golfing away from coming in to order food unless they paid this $15 cover. We weren’t there for the band nor were the golfers. We sat inside and could barely even hear the band. If this was a night club I would understand but, it is a golf course and restaurant. We finished our drinks with Jerry standing watch over us and were trying to thank our waitress and he followed us around until we left, very creepy and hostile because we wouldn’t pay a cover for a band we didn’t come to see. Our group already decided we will go to the Eagles Nest...

UPDATE! I had to come back to update this. A friend and I went here the first sunday In February and not only had AMAZING service and attention to detail, including how we found out about specials, how our food was and if it could be improved. They replaced the below mentioned truffle pizza with a French dip pizza. My girlfriend and I have been taking about this pizza since that day! It was, hands down, in the top 5 best pizzas I've ever had. You have to like a non-traditional pizza to drink that way, but I have recommended it to numerous people since that day. Great service! Great food! Great atmosphere! Its convenient to where we live. The food is ok... the "truffle cream" pizza is mushrooms and onions with white sauce. I cook with truffles frequently. I didn't taste any truffles... and the mushrooms were fresh vs, sauteed then added. Not my preference, but some may like this. Overall, it's ok and we'll probably be back because of the proximity, but if more places are open I wouldn't choose to go here.

Just two small pizzas and two beers for the three of us. Over an hour to get the drinks, another 45 minutes to get the pizza. Ordered a Big Truck Motor Oil dark IPA (see photo from website for what that beer looks like, black like a stout) but was served a very tart cranberry sour ale (see photo taken at our table). Undrinkable, only took one sip. Waiter refused to acknowledge the mistake, arrogantly arguing that the sour bright red thing he served was in fact the dark IPA I ordered. He efused to take it back to the bartender to confirm/correct. The Avenue Ale House deserved zero stars. Even the pizza was sub-par. I know it's hard to get good help these days but this experience was inexcusable.
