I think Babalouieâs IS more than likely the best BBQ âthis side of the Mason Dixon line.â Iâve had enough south of the Mason Dixon Line to make this educated assertion. I started with the ribs and pulled pork for my family, and I canât wait to go back for the Brisket. The cornbread is incredible. Itâs a big slab, not a little âmuffin topâ sized bite. The ribs are St. Louis and they were rubbed and done with care. Very meaty and not a single bite was dried out or overcooked. They are perfectly seasoned. You get a choice of sweet OR spicy BBQ Sauce. Or you can get both. I prefer the sweet because the spicy was a little vinegar-y for me but my son loves it like that. The pulled pork is the best pulled pork Iâve ever enjoyed. It was enjoyed by everyone and I was glad I bought another pound - just in case.
I find a lot of pulled pork is just a bunch of stringy meat drowning in mediocre, gelatinous goop. (Some call it âBBQ sauce.â)When you open up Babalouieâs pulled pork âby the pound,â what you see is exactly what you asked for. Pork. Pulled tenderly. In its own drippings and nothing else. Unadulterated, juicy pork. Itâs an â11.â
The sides we picked were the Mac & Cheese - it really is cheesy AF as the menu says.
The Greens: they use Apple Cider vinegar which is the gold standard to me. Itâs spicy. I prefer mine not THAT spicy, but I ate them anyway because theyâre worth the burn. You can taste the pride in Brooksâ food. From Delaware on down through Georgia, these are the best Collard Greens Iâve ever tasted, with honorable props to Miss Sylvia in Harlem, NY.
The Cole Slaw definitely is kickinâ. You can tell when itâs homemade.
And that Cornbread? It commands a second mention. It is such a perfect cornbread. Itâs springy, not crumbly; the sweet is offset by the buttermilk, and I suspect all that buttermilk is the reason for the fluffy height of it. He didnât skimp on the eggs, either.
The Flourtown Farmers Market has plenty of free parking. If thats not close to you, this BBQ Food Truck is worth a trip to wherever...
Read moreWe discovered Babalouie BBQ about 6 months ago at Ten 7 Brewery in North Wales. We were there for some amazing beer and with a BBQ food truck outside, we figured it was a bonus. We had no idea how much of a bonus it would be until we chowed down on some of the best brisket and pulled pork we have ever had. And we have had them all. Seasonings and smoke are spot on; the meat is definitely high quality; sides were also great â collards, beans and corn bread that day.
Fast forward to late September and we decided to ask Brooks to cater our 4 Generation family party. We ordered pretty much everything. It was ready when promised and pickup took all of 3 minutes. Our guests at the party raved and Babalouie BBQ made us look pretty awesome. Quantities, also, were very generous. We had lots of leftovers and guests were not shy about asking for take away.
At the risk of overwhelming Brooks with a sudden uptick in popularity, I highly suggest stalking this guy wherever his truck may roam and if you have a party to plan, Babalouie is the key to your partyâs success. When he moves into the Flourtown Farmers Market and expands his capacity, I may apply for a job to help out. It would be an honor to be a part of this...
Read moreWe had Babalouie cater my dadâs 60th birthday party recently and my family still talks about it!!! Delivery was on time, set up and HOT. We had more than enough food too, so we were able to send everyone home with leftovers! We ordered 3 types of meat and honestly, I couldnât pick a favorite. All of them perfect. The Mac and cheese, collard greens, baked beans and cucumber salad are out of this world. Youâll also be tempted to put their BBQ sauce on literally everything! Prices are extremely reasonable and working with them was an absolute pleasure! I highly recommend them for any event you have in the future or to follow their food truck wherever they go. I wish I could give more...
