For over 60 years the Big Boy has been my favorite hamburger, and for the last 20 years I have gotten it cooked medium-rare, often having to sign the receipt.
But Friday night, after driving away from an order taker in the drive-thru who could not leave his street speech at the front door, I parked along the north side of the building, and using a walker, made it down a poorly lit sidewalk to the lobby.
Upon placing y order I was rudely and flatly told, "We don't do that any more!"
I then surrendered and asked, "Could you tell the cook not to press all the juices out of the patties with the spatula, to just flip them and let them cook?" I was tersely told, "I'll see what can be done." I asked for the manager and the woman replied, "I'm the manager." I ordered a Big Boy with all the fixings and extra tartar sauce, after all it is the tartar sauce that gives the Big Boy it's great taste.
When I got back to my Mom's I found they had not followed the instructions for her plain hamburger with tartar sauce, and my Big Boy did not have all the fixings, nor extra sauce, and the meat was dry and tasteless.
Now I will admit the manager was doing her best to make up for a short staff, and she was waiting tables, checking on the salad bar , and taking orders and running the cash register. However, her work ethic does not compensate for a less-than-average meal. Alas, I may have had my last Big Boy. I can always buy my own tartar sauce and...
Read moreI was the 7th in line for pickup. I was 2 mins after my order was to be ready. 3 in line, and lady orders to go. Lady at cash register says to her, "i gotta go make it." I'm like, me and this other guy's food shows complete! The other guy says to a nice dressed guy near drive thru, "Hey, can u help us?" Ingnored and only 4 feet away. Lady seating people asks if we need help. Tells her what we need. She kinda shuffles around under the desk (no food there btw) and says, "I can't do this as I've only been here 2 weeks." So anyway the guy behind me had been waiting there for 20 mins! I said go ahead of me please! After he got his and then I got mine, it was 8 mins after pickup time. It'd had only been 3 mins after if the pick up Lady hadn't disappeared.
Got to hospital. No spoons, forks, tartar sauce for fish, ketchup, and salt for the French fries. Wife ordered salso for her omelet and not in there. Absolutely no excuse for that! Terrible. Asst managers or manager need replaced or busted to bus boys
Not coming back here. Go to Lee's down 3 blocks. It's awesome.
Manager needs to look and see who's asst manager durukg these negative reviews. Being we were ignored by one, I'd bet its usually the same...
Read moreI ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, a side of broccoli, and an appetizer of pretzels with cheese. My server Kim was very quick and polite. Despite the drive thru being busy my food came out fast and hot. Those are all major improvements over how this store was being run 2 years ago.
I think the beer cheese is a seasonal menu item, but it worked really well for dipping the broccoli. So that's the good... now on to room for improvement.
This location needs to correct their menu. The dinners which say that Texas toast is included don't actually include any toast. I've learned this after ordering here several times in the past months, and no toast was brought out. I asked my server about it today and she told me this location only includes toast when customers ask. She fixed the issue for me, but I think the menu should be changed. If the toast isn't included, the menu shouldn't say that it is.
The other issue I've had is the last couple times I ordered the country fried steak it looked darker than it should be, like the grease in the fryer needs changed. I didn't complain and ate it anyway. It seems to be a roll of the dice, or maybe depends on...
