Food when eaten in-house: 5 Food as takeout: 3 People: 5 Music: 5
TL;DR: I will definitely be eating here again.
Highs: Xochil burger, birria burrito, house made habanero hot sauce, house made horchata, flan
Mids: chips, pineapple water (AKA juice), mahi mahi tacos
Lows: guacamole, quesadillas
I've eaten there twice now, once as takeout and once dining in. The takeout was extremely oily, especially the quesadillas; the relatively short journey home was enough for the quesadillas to become soggy with oil. It was unfortunate. I intend to try them again when dining in, because the quality of the food in-house makes me think it was just a packaging issue. The Xochil burger was outstanding. The guacamole was disappointing- too salty and too citrusy. Got it both times and it was the same both times. It just punches you in the mouth. It's too much. But they make some of the best horchata and flan I've ever had- the horchata was the perfect level of sweetness, and the flan was the perfect texture. The people working there were great, the environment was chill, and the music was awesome.
Heads-up that the flan comes with chocolate sauce if you don't specify, but they do also have caramel sauce upon request. Never had flan with chocolate sauce before. It was unexpected, but not bad.
If they get their takeout packaging game and guacamole quality up to spec, this could be a five-star place. I'll definitely be eating there again though, and they're still new, so hopefully they'll get it together. I'll be delighted to update this review later if so.

Read moreI hope Xochi catches on because I would be happy to have as a local dine out spot. Sadly, it is hidden a block south of Willow Grove Ave. on a little side street (Elm), sign almost invisible unless you are looking for it; so not getting drive by business.
Enjoyed absolutely delicious shrimp with avocado tacos and side of beans and rice. Free corn chips and cooked tomatoe salsa (tasty but probably out of package). Chicken (chunks) quesidia was decent. Accompanying guacamole side tasted out of a package, not fresh made.
For dinner, the portions would be generous and reasonably priced. A bit more than we were looking for at lunch. No lunch specials, so breakfast menu might suit better midday. Server Brian was good. BYOB so you can save some...
Read moreWe loved our dinner in a previous visit, so I came back to see why everyone was praising the breakfast so enthusiastically. It was ok, but not as spectacular as their dinner. The Xochi owners need to travel to Albuquerque NM to try the breakfast burrito that made Frontier restaurant grow from a single small room to taking over the entire block with several franchise restaurants all over the city. All of their success came from their breakfast burrito! There is something magical about the Frontier restaurant's breakfast burrito that was entirely missing from the Xochi burrito. Fresh roasted green chilies? Crispy fresh hash browns? Fluffy eggs? I don't know. I won't be going back for Xochi's lackluster breakfast, but I can't wait to...
