Ongoing Thefts, Non-Working Security, Endless Unit Maitenance, Careless Upper Mgmt and Poor Building Conditions — Proceed with Caution
We’ve experienced multiple major issues here that future tenants should be aware of: • Two of our vehicles were stolen within 10 days of each other. We later learned this has happened to multiple residents. Despite this, management offered no apologies or real help, no resolution & refused to inform other residents of the thefts - just offered a waitlist for garage parking (which also has vandalism reports). • Security cameras advertised on the tour don’t work. We were told they’re “out of budget” to repair. Requests for footage were denied. Management hasn’t notified residents about these ongoing safety issues. • The building is very outdated—with recurring wall cracks, warped floors, elevator failures, and old laundry machines that don’t wash clothes well enough. • Common areas are poorly maintained: hallway leaks, random fire alarms, smoke smells, trash thrown from balconies, and a dumpster always overflowing by the entrance. • Anyone has access to your packages in the mail room, there are always 50+ packages in the room it takes you 10+ minutes to find your items because its so unorganized. Sometimes packages are delivered & left out in the hallway for anyone to grab. • Maintenance team is kind & helpful. Devin & Steve are phenomenal. Sadly though theres no scheduling system in place for repairs. They’ll just show up randomly at your door.
Lower rent prices & balcony views at Chestnut Hill Tower are completely overshadowed by: • Active vehicle thefts & vandalism • Non‑functional security cameras & no plan to repair them • Inexperienced, careless upper management • crumbling 1960s building riddled with unresolved maintenance issues
Any $ you think you’re saving is erased by constant maitenance needed & potential property loss. Sadly, this place prioritizes appearances & getting new people in over safety, comfort, and transparency. I strongly recommend thoroughly reading reviews & read your lease carefully before signing up to live at this ongoing project. Its sad we were really excited to live here & would not be leaving if it wasn’t for how management handled our car theft situation & the majorly...
Read moreAs a two-year resident of Chestnut Hill Tower, I am writing this review to express my deep disappointment and to provide an honest account of the persistent issues I've faced. While the rent might appear competitive, it's imperative for potential residents to understand the significant drawbacks.
The management's approach has been consistently problematic. My recent experience attempting to transfer to a different apartment is a testament to this. A verbal agreement regarding the rental price and discount, made in good faith with the staff, was later blatantly disregarded by the management. They insisted on having written proof of an agreement that was never documented, reflecting a disturbing lack of integrity and professionalism. This incident is not isolated; it's part of an ongoing pattern of miscommunication and unfulfilled promises.
Moreover, the building's older infrastructure has led to severe maintenance issues. I've personally suffered from multiple closet floods, causing considerable damage to my belongings. These events highlight the building's inadequate maintenance and the management's failure to address such critical issues promptly. The inconvenience and damage caused go beyond mere discomfort, raising serious questions about the building's habitability.
The lower rental rates at Chestnut Hill Tower come at a high price - a price of enduring unprofessional management and living in a building plagued with maintenance problems. The savings on rent are completely overshadowed by the constant stress and frustration of dealing with these unresolved issues.
This review is intended to inform and caution potential renters. It's essential to consider not just the financial aspects but also the reliability and accountability of the building management, as well as the physical state of the property. Based on my prolonged and disheartening experience, Chestnut Hill Tower is a place where the allure of affordability is significantly marred by the reality of its...
Read moreI had high hopes moving here, but I’ve been very disappointed since moving here in July.
To start off, when I moved into the apartment, the electric in my roommates room would not work unless she had her bathroom light on, there was a gap at the top of my window stuffed with bubble wrap and masking tape, and the kitchen shelves were falling. When we run our washer, the draining water backs up into the bathroom sink and leaves grime all over the sink. While some of the maintenance staff know what they’re doing, there are a couple that are rather…. incompetent in their skills. It took them months to fix my window, and our issue with the washer has still not been fixed.
As stated by others, the elevators break down often, which is concerning for a wheelchair accessible complex. The fire company is here almost every week for some type of elevator issue or other maintenance issues. The front door key fob scanner was broken for months in the winter, which made people have to walk around to the other side of the building.
Theft is also a huge issue here. My roommate and I have had multiple packages stolen due to the communal package room. It is also a bit difficult to know when a package arrives because a code to get in the package room is not sent most of the time, so you are unable to access it. These packages are not sorted in the package room either, so you have to spend five minutes looking for your package at the bare minimum.
My roommates car has also been towed TWICE, with management not acknowledging that my roommates car was towed because a resident called the towing company (which is not allowed).
The so called “amenities” are not worth it. The pool was closed for half of the summer, the vending machines are never stocked, and the printer does not work downstairs. Also, NONE of the security cameras are functional, interior and exterior.
Overall, I wish I hadn’t moved here because it’s not...
