I have gone here off and on, as I like supporting small businesses, despite my always wishing for a desire to fall in love with this local spot.
This morning I ordered a bagel, sausage egg and cheese sandwich and a large hot coffee with a splash of cream.
The bagel sandwich is something I’ve ordered in the past, and it’s never been great, but comparable to what you’d get at aby bagel sandwich place. If you’re on the go and not watching calories, it’ll do. It isn’t amazing. It’s mostly bagel with a little egg (1), slice of white american and a pork sausage patty.
The large coffee I ordered was, for me, the ultimate decision maker in not going here anymore. Despite the many opportunities I’ve gone here expecting to be happy, each time I’m left wishing for more of an enjoyable experience.
I asked for coffee with a splash of cream and I’m certain they didn’t use cream. It was most likely milk, possibly half and half. (I'm limiting carbs right now and acutely aware of how it tastes to use different types of milk products.) But that isn’t the part that did it for me. After taking a sip of the coffee, I was met with a bitter stale flavor. How unfortunate. I forced myself to drink about a third of it before I finally realized I hated the flavor of their coffee and knew I just needed to stop somewhere else to get a better cup. It was about an hour before I was able to make the stop, and my mouth was tinged with that bitter, stale flavor the whole time, which is what led to me leaving this review.
I expected better coffee because it says they’re a roaster, too. This coffee tastes like what you’d get for free at a cheap motel or complimentary wt an oil change place while you’re waiting. I hate to say that, but it’s baffling to me that they’re serving this. (This was my first time ordering their coffee - I usually get a chai latte.)
With several other local options within a 3 min drive, I don’t recommend going here - even if it is convenient that they have a drive thru. If you just don’t care what the coffee tastes like, then this is a good local place, but if you enjoy paying more for coffee that is roasted locally I urge you to give some other places a try over this place.
My total was just shy of $10 for the bagel and coffee.
I’m sharing my review in hopes that others who enjoy good coffee will see this to avoid a...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place! I walked from the next neighborhood over one Sunday. It was packed to the brim with chatty parents+wild children all over the place to the point where it was impossible to get to the counter when they called my name for my sandwich and a dad had to kindly grab it and wade halfway across the room to me. Also, for some reason there were people dressed as ducks stained in front of the door (I almost just turned around without going in, because I never want someone in my face, but especially not when I need coffee and chill time). All that is fine or even great if you are one of the soccer moms/dads liking to socialize. It's not so great if you want to sit with your coffee and read your magazine in peace like you can at many other coffee shops. The coffee WAS very good, and I believe everyone should have a light and dark roast on as they do. I was however overcharged by $1.22, which it took til later to calculate, because I want offered a real or an emailed receipt, which also means I can't prove it. So, it was $9.01 for a large coffee and a croissant sandwich. The sausage on the sandwich either started out as bits or was sliced into small pieces for some reason, making it difficult to eat as an actual sandwich without it falling apart, and this could be personal preference, but it didn't taste like breakfast sausage...the seasoning was different. So, I wish them the best as a community hub and hope it continues to be busy, but I will never go...
Read moreI decided to try locals coffee shop as I am trying to support local businesses. It was around 1:45 pm when we entered the establishment (My girlfriend and her son). I was aware that the business closes at two pm. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we ordered. We ordered coffee and a few breakfast items. We received the coffee orders first and were waiting in the seating area for the food order. It was right around two pm and we still hadn’t received our food order. While waiting an older woman with brown hair said we close at two and we are closed now. She said this in a manner that made us feel as if she was kicking us out. I explained to her that we had not received our food order yet. She stated it’s coming. The manner in which this said was not very friendly. She seemed more annoyed that we were still at the establishment after it closed than making sure we received our order. This really left a bitter taste in my mouth as this could have been handled in a much better manner. Outside of this experience I thought the coffee shop was nice and the other members of the staff were very polite...
